Who is "they" and what shed are you thinking of? Bear in mind that Kilmersden is currently out of ticket and in need of an overhaul so actually being in the right shed might be to its advantage?

What is? You obviously have a thing for Kilmersdon which is fine, we all have favourite loco’s but I really think the S&D trust are trying to find places for every item in their collection, not just an 0-4-0 saddle tank that you might not be able to see for a while.

Well, the Mid-Hants already has a Thomas, so paint Kilmersdon green and it might make a good Percy... Sorry, I'll get my coat...

It will run out of water there. But I had an idea in bed that they could lend it to hollycombe which looks near there and they could get the line there going again as it is concerning that line has been closed for a long time

It was green for a long time, on Thomas weekends it was at Washford as Percy. The kiddies loved handing up buckets of water and a lump of coal, then the great show of puzzlement on the fireman's face, a stick poking around in the tank and a 'fish' being caught. It was decided a few years back that Kilmersdon would be put to better use at Minehead as Percy for those weekends and was very popular. I don't know if the S&D were paid for the use of at Minehead along with the coach but they lost the opportunity of donations in the yard.

Well I don't think that anyone here was thinking that the MHR would use it on 5 coach services!!!!!
So now, even though the SDJRT is trying to sort out its assets, remove everything from Washford, come to an agreement with the MHR and then arrange and pay for it all to be moved, you want them to divert some of their time/money/volunteers to go to resurrect a line somewhere else???
Are you a member of the SDJRT? Have you donated anything towards Kilmersdon's future overhaul?

I don't wish to be rude, but do you ever actually read over your posts and think about what you're asking others to do, before hitting send? I think you should.

It would also run out of water at the WSR if used on the full length of line. It may or may not end up at the MHR, depending if they can see some use for it. Being Percy seems the only likely use for it there, but there are probably other smaller lines that could make better use of it.

Yes it would be good to see the Hollycombe line back in use. However there are plenty of other industrial saddle tanks around. If they had the money and inclination to hire one in, I’m sure they would have done so already.

Have you spoken to a professional about your obsession with Kilmersdon?

Just as a warning, you won't be allowed to pull one off for Kilmersdon at the MHR. They don't allow that sort of thing in Hampshire. Not in public at any rate.

It occurs to me that, for those of us who live in the "S&DJR heartland", that Kilmersdon will actually be closer to us at the MHR than it was when it went off down to Helston :)

As a rough guess, but once the engine has been overhauled and is back in service again, I would not be surprised if the S&DRT did not rent it out to another 'small line' to raise more income, so its location at the MHR might only be temporary anyway.

Much as I like Hollycombe (and I try to go every year), I get the impression that in railway terms, they have their work cut out just running the narrow gauge, which does at least give a decent ride. Moreover, there is heaps of other stuff there crying out for more investment. Much as I like railways, resurrecting the standard gauge line would be very low on my list of priorities for the site.

Having fired Kilmersden on numerous occasions from Washford to Minehead or to Bishops Lydeard or Norton Fitzwarren pulling the coach and road van plus sometimes extra wagons, consumption of water was good it would still be in site. We would top up at Williton on the way to BL. I was once told that if you can take water take it, that was from an old driver.

I think that’s a good idea as kilmersdon and the little diesel will probably go rusty and not get used. It is a silly railway to send them too for a long time.

I'm sure the MHR will be delighted to be called a 'silly railway'

So which railway would you send the museum, signalbox, carriages, wagons and 53808 to? Please enlighten us with your 'expert knowledge'
