Thanks to WCRC, Riley's and NELPG for the rather experimental but enthusiastic season! Looking forward to the next one....

*Will know when once 2021 Season is announced.
**Sunshine not conditional, but much appreciated

Fantastic photos. Autumn West Highland steam always delivers great photos come rain or shine! Would love it if next year or whenever in the future the 5s would work a revenue earning train in these conditions like they did for the SRPS a few years ago.

Thanks to all at WCRC for getting the show back on the road this year.

The one to watch is this one:

    https://archive.org/details/WestHighland

Back in the mists of time the BBC had a series of test broadcasts that it ran in the afternoon to try out their 'new' UHF system of 625 lines as a precursor to colour television. This was the one I looked forward to.

A selection of shots from a couple of weeks up in the Highlands in between lockdowns. While the weather in the middle of September was just about perfect (bit warm at times, but that's not a criticism!), the weather in the last week of October was nothing short of classic Scotland.

As always, I'm totally blown away by the standard of photography posted here by the regulars in the 'Jacobite Pack!' Thanks to all of you for providing such a wonderous spectacle, which is even more welcome in these difficult times! I really ought to try and get up there sometime!

With the arrival of the Black 5’s at Carnforth, I suspect there are quite a lot of locomotives tucked up tonight in the depot - Sunday 8th November. Anyone fancy trying to work out how many?
There is a current video on YouTube showing the consist powering through Cathcart station, and the platforms were thronged with families!

Do. I've only been twice and I must go again. Some of the locations are a bit of an effort to get to but there's still a fair few that can be accessed without needing to emulate a mountain goat.

You should, if the weather is right the unpolluted air gives some striking light that you don’t get anywhere else. The series of steep gradients also ensure the engines will cough a bit.

Out of interest, on the sequence leaving Glenfinnan, how did you get across the river without getting very wet?

    Hi John,

I climbed that hill twice in the week and came from Glenfinnan on both walking down the track on the river side of the railway bridge past the new building and then across the field in the general direction of the river. Rather surprisingly at that point it much more rocks than water so was quite easy to get across without any danger of getting wet.

Thanks, that’s a fair old walk up the contractors road, it was put in when they built the damn a few years ago.

Hi John, I think you might have misunderstood me a bit. I've not walked all the way up the contractors road. I've walked from Glenfinnan up the A830 to the bridge over the railway then come down the track there to where a couple of houses/holiday lets are being built (you can see it in the video). Then from that come across the field to the river, crossed and then used the contractors track. So a longer walk than the traditional route but not as long as the full contractors track!
