    That's comical.... Another chuckle here!

In any case, doesn't the testing of trains usually earn money....?????

Clearly the members don't want change, yet the world around them continues on , leaving them behind, So when can we expect the removal of the tens ID cards? in an act of revenge by the PLC, for daring to upset their cosy little world? I think in time some members may have reason to regret the way they voted, when the PLC leaves the WSSRT by the wayside as it assumes total control of those members railway.

Sorry folks if I have missed the point!
I understood that we were voting for individuals rather than a group of candidates. I would expect a detail of how many people voted for EACH candidate. This does not sound like the democratic election I expected when I cast my votes. Nothing in the notes for the AGM suggested that votes would be counted other than for each candidate separately. I am baffled!

The reality is that this election result will not:

    • improve the financial situation of the WSR
    • will not fix Seaward Way crossing
    • will not fix the infrastructure issues
    • will not fix the SMS issues
All of those things are the remit of the PLC.

@martin1656 I find it hard to imagine that given all the other issues facing the WSR at this time, that time and effort would be wasted on trying to kick off a group of volunteers. However, this is the WSR we are talking about, so I wouldn't be surprised.

I read the note as a summary, and suspect strongly given the framing of the vote that most votes were cast on a slate basis. I would like to see a more detailed breakdown, in particular of how many votes were cast against the “official” candidates.

I am mystified by this overwhelming result against the new candidates. If they were responsible for the rise in the membership, how come they lost so comprehensively?

Were all the new members recruited by them, or were some (perhaps even a certain @rodders154?) recruited by the existing board in the attempt to defend against the “10”?

It seems clear to me that once it became clear what was happening the "other side" engaged in a similar practise. Seemingly, they were more successful.

I would hope that members of the Trust will, in time be circulated a list of votes cast and for whom or what. Otherwise, with such an overwhelming win by the people who were in charge of the election process that had no public scrutiny, it would look very dodgy.

One observation about the WSSRT election result....

There were 10 new candidates standing for Trustees. Leaving aside the issue that they were all on a 'common platform' as regards the future of the Trust, the underlying fact - which IMHO many of the voters seemed to have ignored - is that (if elected) they would first and foremost be Trustees. There have been comments on here already about the long and varied experience in practical matters related to heritage railways in general, and the WSR in particular, to found in the varied candidates. Yet the Trust electorate chose not to elect a single one of them. Has there perhaps been some form of collective 'group think' in which they have been blinded by the 'message' and failed to look further into the varied and useful contributions which could have been made by each and every one of them?

I will be asking if it isn’t circulated in reasonable time.

Inevitably so, given how the ballot was framed and the candidates chose to run. It’s an opportunity lost, but we need to accept that if they ran as a slate, they will have been voted on as such.

The detail will be interesting, to see just how far that logic held true.

The varied and useful contributions are not important. Which "side" they belong to is. The WSR is like Northern Ireland without the violence, weapons or explosives.

And of course once they were sure they'd got the votes, membership was closed to stop anyone else joining.

But there you go, it is what it is and the WSR has to live with the consequences.

No, that's part of the kit that was stored there years ago in readiness to do Seaward Way crossing....
