As Companies House has the dates as 23/09 and the announcement was of the retirements was 23/10, I'm inclined to agree that this was probably a cock-up. I also agree that the re-purposing of a planned resignation looks underhand.

The latest DEPG update has some hopefully encouraging news in this respect (https://depg.org/week-ending-15-nov-20/)

"The survey and immediate safety-related work is being funded by a£30,000 allocation from the Government’s ‘Cultural Recovery Fund for Heritage’ and is being managed by WSR Lead Civil Engineer Andrew Young" .

Sorry but clerical error is not an excuse . Directors have responsibilities , LEGAL responsibilities that failure to conduct can lead to penalties . were they or not in office ?

Perhaps the question to be asked is - did the person at the WSSRT who was responsible for sending the necessary documents to Companies House actually check later to ensure that (a) they had been posted and (b) posted corrected, and if not why not?

At last, something positive getting done on the Railway, apart from the hand weeding by volunteers who at least were helping the situation as best they could. I'm looking forward to a trip behind D9526, happy memories of it being quite a regular back in the early 1980s. I hope that trip will be on the WSR.

doesn't the last umteen posts, claims and counter claims, just go to show just how things have deteriorated? when trustees use underhand methods to block change, what does that say of the rotten organisations involved? It is said that a fish rots from the head down, so with that in mind, there is an awful stench about those in charge at the WSR.

On turnover, there is also (as @aldfort has regularly commented) the issue of having recruits available in the first place.

Here's a thought for the future.

The WSR has been in the habit of allowing visiting main line locomotives that arrive on charters to run along the line to Minehead. Sometimes the main line loco has come off at BL and a WSR loco has taken the train forward.

I'd be very surprised if any main line loco owner will allow their engine to trundle beyond BL if and when the line opens fully. There is too much at stake, I would suggest, to allow a 7/8P along a rural branch line with infrastructure work needed.

Won't most be now over the axle loading weight anyway? if a Hall is too heavy, then I can't think of any mainline loco, other than a black 5 that would be with in a GWR blue route.

Chris and David both resigned on 23 October. Any other date mentioned is mistake.

Everyone is human. We was constantly asking a friend if they had got there birthday card and a month later we found it under some letters as we both thought each other had posted it. So sometimes mistakes happen. But I still disagree with them on how they did the weeding that was bad managers

Again, to clear up a misunderstanding. Chris had suggested resigning earlier in the year. I don't remember when but as it was at a physical meeting it was pre-covid. However, he was persuaded not to resign by various senior people around the railway.
Therefore any suggestion that he "re-purposed" his resignation is fanciful in the extreme and completely wrong. If it hadn't been for the letter threatening to report to the police, then he would still be chairman.

Thank you @ikcdab I trust the individual responsible for a somewhat fundamental error will now be subject to staff management processes to enable them to do the job better ...

I trust also you understand that whilst in isolation mistakes do happen , given the scrutiny the WSR is under mistakes like this continue to give the impression of an organisation that is not in control

Cock up rather than conspiricy ?? And you say the PLC are the only act in town, Are they A Brian Rix tribute? a farce? its hardly a thing to be proud of, yet here we go once more round the magic roundabout that is the WSR,
