It was a lovely sunny day at Hellifield and it arrived about 2-00pm about 30 mins after the sun went in.(Typical) After waiting 3 hours in the cold , I took a couple of piccys and then had to leave it there due to other committments.

Not sure it they have fixed the problem with it or even which way it was going onto Carnforth.

A left axel box ran hot according to one of the support crew, then a pad or something had to be taken from Carnforth to Hellifield, where it was fitted and the engine ran around for water then continued back to Carnforth tender first.

Any news on whether return trip passed off without problems and more importantly whether all is OK for the 7th Feb? After the route changes etc with this trip it almost seems fate that the last thing keeping me on the trip encountered a problem (albeit minor - fingers crossed)!

A great day out to Hellifield on Wednesday, with some cracking weather when i waited 3 hours for 46115 but just before it arrived the sun decided it didn't want to shine. The new microphone worked a treat as the wind picked up a little after the sun had gone in.

Footage is now online after some technical issues yesterday ](*,)

Times now on UKsteam info http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t09/t0207b.htm.

No water stop from Hellifield to Carlisle and only 18mins at Appleby on the return!

Still showing as Scots Guardsman so fingers crossed what ever happened on the test run is all ok.

The 18 minutes at Appleby on the return should be treated as the maximum wait. I know of several occassions last year when the train left 5 minutes or more early. Unless they are waiting for a service train to overtake (which invloves a much longer stop and a shunt out of the station then back again) it seems to be "go when ready", once the watering is complete and anything ahead has cleared the section. If they are late arriving at Appleby, the stop could be shorter still. (For comparison, "Bells & Two Tones" can top up a Cathedrals Express at Winchfield from a road tanker in about 6 minutes on a good day.)

Thinking of going out to see this on Saturday from Preston. Having to go by train as I don't have my car with me. Are there any good spots within walking distances of the stations, apart from Ribblehead. The S&C is still not a line I know very well. I think weather forecast is good but I never hold my breath for that part of the world!

Dent and Garsdale are quite good and the shots are close to both stations. Going northbound they will be working through these stations too. Southbound Kirby Stephen probably your best bet.

Thanks for that. Thinking I will probably go to Garsdale, if I go to see it. May have a nose around for any spots near the station but if I can't find any will be back on the platform. Anyone else planning to be there?

If you go Garsdale, head down the road that goes under the railway, then turn right and walk towards the railway. You'll then get the shot across the viaduct as the train departs the station.

OK thanks a lot. And the sun (if it's out) will be on the correct side for that too I'm guessing.
