Brighton Atlantic: 32424 Beachy Head

When underway on a cold day, for sure. Unless I'm tripping, tautology or not, the invisible bit of the exhaust always seems to look larger from a superheated loco.

 

Since the question was raised in the context of an I3, I'll let the audience decide if it would be noticeable:

Take a look, particularly at the length of smokebox, at No. 21 (unsuperheated) and No. 22 (superheated).

If you mean No. 22, my best guess is a Klinger mechanical lubricator, which were fitted originally to I3 No. 22 and I4s Nos. 32/2/3/4.

Further down the page, on Nos. 83 and 89, there is a Weir feed pump on the front of the left hand tank.

Only if certain long-overdue improvements were made to the braking system.

 

But if a 22 was built with no superheater headers, would anyone know? (I'm assuming any engine would be dragged up to look like it had a superheater)

 

Wasn't there a thread about the Brighton Atlantic project here once or am I mistaken?

 

Can't recall seeing it mentioned, but weren't some of the I3s built new without superheaters?

Deary me @andrewshimmin, haven't you been paying attention? Wainwright didn't do superheating, so with it being patently non-canonical, our Tom doesn't do superheating either!

At least in a year or 2 time we shall have a operational 21st preservation H2 Beachy head 4.4.2. L.B.S.C.R. at the bluebell railway Atlantic despite up north we have 2 G.N. C1 251 henry oakley C2 990 that ran at the K.V.W.R. briefly in preservation, C2 990 that will be going on static display at Doncaster unless someone has deep pockets to overhaul one on em.
