I'm passing my lockdown time by digitalising some of my old VHS tapes and am currently working on the footage taken during my time as a PW volunteer on the Nene Valley. Testing Times .

 

Afternoon All,

With 60009 being withdrawn from the main line, I thought it might be appropriate to put a shot of it on the East Coast Main Line in 1994 on YouTube. It was the occasion of it's first visit to Kings Cross in 30 years when it hauled a special train to Peterborough and the Nene Valley Railway organised by Steam Railway magazine.

I filmed it at Offord Cluny between St. Neots and Huntingdon in what some might call 'atmospheric' conditions:

With no Manors on the Valley this year, for the first time in a long time. Here’s a refresher of the last Manor that was in service on the line. 7802 Bradley Manor, hopefully 7802/12 will be returning next year.

This was recorded with an analogue camcorder. The video quality is not great nor is some of the filming. There is also wind noise picked up by the internal microphone. Nevertheless, it is a record of an engine type that is unlikely to be seen on the main line again.
