If your thinking about going on this tour then dont leave it too long before you apply, the tour is over 80% full already still with 3 months to go. We have ticket applications arriving everyday, if you really want to go on this tour then I'd advise you to apply within the next few weeks or you could be disappointed.

Well there's less than a week till this tour now (Monday 4th May) Anyone on it? Out and about to see it? Fingers crossed for some good weather. The tour is diesel hauled as far as Hellifield where the K1 then takes the train over the SnC in both directions. It'll be the first time the K1 has been over the SnC since the early 1980's which has no doubt been a factor in helping the trip selling out.

Ahem, which is it , Hellifield or Long Preston? won't matter to me ,I'll see it at carnforth bright and early.

is it to save the locals at hellifield from being plagued by parked cars belonging to enthusiasts.?

I assume loco change is in the loop at Hellifield, so will then stop at Long Preston to pick up passengers.

62005 passed ribblehead 12.00 45 mins. down, I heard that a wheel had jammed and that caused the delay departing hellifield/long preston, no doubt all will be revealed, the wind whistleing with fine rain, but there were a few brave souls stood about.

got a video but the wind noise spoils it, very atmospheric with the smoke drifting in the rainy breeze.will post it on U-tube but its a bit wobbly and noisy.

As already said, 62005 was about 45 down, i was stood up on the bridge at Blea Moor and i'd never experienced anything like it! The wind was overpowering, the rain was head on and it felt like the middle of December again, me and about 4 others were all frozen to the spot practically, and by the time the train had arrived i couldn't even use the camcorder i was that cold, can't remember the last time that happened. Anyway my video will be online soon and no wind was picked up [-o< Which i was very surprised at. Well done to the crews on 62005 for keeping her going, she was hardly moving by the time she was entering the tunnel.

i was on the train and as far as i was awere the were late because of a signal just past settle jct we were stood there for about half an hour.

we did better coming back a way on time from carlisle and eary from appleby but then we had to stop at Kirkby Stephen ment that a standing start from there to the summit and it did it in fine stye and get us back to hellifield 5 min a head.
a fantastic day out and my many thanks to all involed =D>

The initial delay was caused by the late running local service which left Settle around 10:00 and therefore denied access to the block ( Settle - Ribblehead ) for about 25 minutes until the local train had cleared Blea Moor signalbox. As the train passed me at Langcliffe the rear bogie on the rear coach was making knocking sounds so presume that further delays would ensue at some point as the fault was found, checked and corrective action taken.

The knocking remained throughout the trip, we just got steadily later after the Settle signal check. The southbound stop at Kirkby Stephen was due to the signalman needing to tell the train crew about sheep on the line further ahead - hence the need for drain cocks a bit further on. An excellent day out though, and 62005 a credit to NELPG - thank you all.

As others have suggested, it was a pretty miserable day weatherwise on the S&C, and difficult conditions to shoot any decent video, but here's my record of the run

let's hope for glorious weather this weekend
