I'd love to see it run in a livery different to those it has carried in preservation - wartime black with 'N E' on the tender would be my choice :) (although I'd have to consult Willie Yeadon's 'Register' for further choices - just NOT BR Green, please!)

I shall look forward to it patiently, as with 60009's imminent retirement and little chance of anything being done with 4464 it'll be the only running A4 when it returns to traffic.

I may also have to resist buying the Bachmann/NRM model of Green Arrow too, it'll remind me of happier times :(

Very wise. We don't want to go back to the times when railtours were being advertised for locos that still had the boiler out of the frames.

Another excuse for a livery debate... (rolls eyes and shrugs shoulders)

I got told off for suggesting that about twenty years ago... a good second choice IMO would be as E7 in Garter Blue.

Don't get me wrong; I like the 1950 livery. Just a change would be nice; I'd like to see a 'Spamcan' in BR Express Blue one day.

Conducting a successful whip round for 21C11's 1st repaint* would be the surest way of achieving so laudable an aim.

*you can count that as a vote of confidence in www.35011gsn.co.uk :)

There is something missing there John. Surely it should have an RAF roundel where the nameplate would go.:)

By the time blue came along, wasn't the 'lion on wheel' in use, as per 60007? That livery really suited the Spamcans.

I have to say my favourite mainline steam sight was 60007 in blue with a full rake of crimson and cream carriages behind it heading towards Peterborough; it was also my very first sight of main line steam :)

Hopefully with Saphos operating it we’ll see N0 7 pulling a full crimson and cream rake. Combined with the BR Blue livery it would be a wonderful sight.

It has only just occurred to me what a cunning move Hosking has played, getting the use of an A4 that someone else has overhauled, thus saving his organisation(s) the expense of overhauling Bittern. It suggests that Bittern will remain out of commission for a long while.

No, it doesn't as they have been working on a spare A4 boiler for Bittern and she will likely be overhauled after 70000 and 60532 are back running.

That coaching stock looks more yellow than cream?

Mind you John. Looks even better at the head of a set of teaks. Or at a second best classic Pullman Cars of which the NYMR have Car 79 one of the 1928 Queen of Scots sets and Hornby Dublo, Triang, Triang Hornby and later day Hornby fame. At a push even a set of 1960 Metro Camel Cars will do, in Pullman colours naturally.

I try not to get involved in livery debates, but I'd quite like to see an A4 in Apple Green at the head of a rake of teak stock.
