Ah yes! I forgot about that when writing the update First time I'd seen the show, it was pretty decent! I missed the filming though.

The pace you rattle through things never fails to amaze me, if we could get half your throughput I'd be over the moon!

 

Impressive progress and great to see those three completed sitting outside the shed.

 

They'll have overhauled the Esso Class b tank quicker than I'll finish the Airfix one that i started just before Christmas...

 

Ah the one that came with the axle in 2 halves to glue together, absolutely potty design, good luck!

 

Yes, that's the one, luckily I am using more brass than plastic with the kit so the wheels went straight in the bin.

It will be good to see a tanker train roll by! Hopefully by April things will be running reasonably well on our railways.....

 

I note the Gloucester Wheelsets are fitted with are fitted with Inner and Outer coil springs.
Is this a common feature on various wagons?

On the NYMR in the Civils wagon fleet we have a 40t LNER Weltrol E230908
fitted with bogies featuring Inner and Outer springs.
One of the Springs has broken and of course it is an inner.
Is there an established procedure for replacing these springs?
Or is it just a case of strip the thing down until you can get the spring out?

 

The inner and outer spring arrangement is to introduce different spring rates when the is loaded or not. One spring being the 'tare' spring and one being the 'loaded' spring. This is a fairly common arrangement on modern wagons, but less so on older ones.

In terms of getting one out, I would imagine its a case of stripping it down until you can get to the spring to replace it.
