Chrissie Hynde's autobiography makes interesting reading even if the matter is only alluded to

Looks like along with the Christmas lights a few other items have been removed from the U. IMG_0549.JPG

I think 31806 went into traffic on the MHR in Feb 2011, so I am assuming that this work will be in preparation for the proposed boiler swap?

Question - did this boiler get a re-tube, as the engine has been out on the mainline in recent years (2018 onwards) post the usual seven year limit for boiler tubes?

The Swanage P&W FB page had a video of the rail-roader being used to help left bits off

Not sure why this FB page and the Railway's general FB page require sign-ins on my PC now. They used to be freely available to one and all. (Somewhat baffled)

I can view the page without signing into FB (albeit FB would like the sign in that it always whinges about - the page is viewable though).
Maybe they check for a NP cookie and bar access ;0) (Oh, that'd be WSR, not SR)

The U is still slowly disappearing, and sometimes your shed is just too small! IMG_5541.JPG IMG_5539.JPG

So THAT'S where they've been hiding the T9 all this time!

Albeit not that well, sticking it's rear out like that... a rookie mistake in a game of hide and seek that, come on guys you gotta try harder!

Has all ground to a temporary halt due to staff infections? If so that is a real shame as it was processing so well.

There is room in the shed to bring the tender in closer, everyone was a bit knackered after pushing the loco in and then the covid lockdown happened. The tender will be pushed in in the near future.

31806 is on its way to Norden this morning. 33111 had quite a smoky start up, but not surprising given temperature and it hasn't been used for a while.

Interesting consist, 08436,31806, 2 brake vans and 33111. Had to leap out of bed to see it, so no image I am afraid.

I see it’s just been officially announced that the T9 is to remain at Swanage. Agreement has been reached with the NRM for it to stay there, and potentially overhauled again in future. Great news.

Indeed brilliant news, always thought the T9 just looked so at home on the Swanage Railway, pretty useful an engine for the railway's needs generally I'd say too. It just works all round.

I would hope of course the locomotive will get overhauled there, have to assume surely that was the reasoning for the railway making such an agreement, though I suspect it won't be for a while yet with everything going on. At least not until the other LSWR 4-4-0 resident the T3 is restored to steam. Certainly I'd love to see the pair double heading at some point, or indeed just side by side, what a sight that would be!

Yes it certainly sounds like they intend to overhaul it, but with current circumstances aren’t committing to starting just yet.

What does the Swanage have by way of undercover storage for the T9 if it's a little while before her turn in the overhaul queue comes - does she just have to find some space at the back of the shed? Or is she likely to just take up space in a bay platform somewhere?

It does not have any, unless Corfe Castle goods shed has space for an engine, If the new Museum at Margate was ready to take new exhibits, short term, It would make sence to send it there, but thats 3 years away, short term, she will have to wait until 563 is done and hope that people come forward to contribute to overhauling her again,
