Looking forward to seeing this once the 'Top Secret' label is taken off. Respect for Sawdust and others involved in rebuilding, and for the undisclosed owner with the cojones to foot the bills and make it happen. Couple of questions, if I may: Is this the observation car that was at the Lochty railway in 1970 odd?
Are there any other coaches from any of the streamline sets still in existence?

The dynamometer car survives at the NRM :Resistanceisfutile:. Seriously though no, which is a pity. Which in turn considering all these "new build" locomotives, leads to the suggestion of suitable "new build" coaching stock.

Is 1729a going to be completed to run on a miniature railway? Looks a bit big for 1.5" scale but maybe 2" scale for a 10 1/4"??

The pointy one is 1729, which was originally preserved by the Gresley Society, then went to Carnforth, where it spent years stored with the end knocked out.

1719 was at the Lochty Railway, and is now at the GCR, where it was restored in rebuilt condition.

While not strictly a streamline train, The Flying Scotsman was none the less a prestige train and Buffet Lounge Car 1852, survives from the two 1938 sets.

While 1948 Flying Scotsman, Buffet Lounge Car 1706 is from the post streamline era, I do class it with the others, as it marks the end of specially built carriages for prestige expresses.

No, mini beavertail was constructed from scrap wood and offcuts, the base is MDF which is not waterproof and has poor structural properties. A lot of it was just pinned or super glued together.
I do hope that it can be displayed along side 1729 from time to time, to show how the shape is achieved.

On that basis Gresley TK 10021 survives from the 1924 Flying Scotsman set; the inscription of ‘J Set 4’ was discovered on the sole bar during restoration proving as much!

RVP also has CK 10155J but it, like 10021 is pre the streamlined era.

The Beavertail 1719 has had its cracked window replaced and other repair work done whilst it was in the Swithland shed. It is now in the shed yard at Rothley with the start of a new paint job and interior work to be done.
