I think that that will be dictated by events outside anybody's control.

So anyone in the Kent area now knows what to look out for for then! Or are we doing a Trump and have a look at 180 degrees to the North? ;):)

It will be safely inside by now.

Next month's Steam Railway magazine might be of interest.

I think so they removed them when it came off mainline duties to ease maintenance. They aren't fitted at the moment though.

Neither of Beavertails were used. I also think it was the "spare" unbranded Cornation/West Riding set that was used for the infamous "Brake Test" run that Gresley used to try for the record........ The spare set was cover set if either of the named sets were unavailable for whatever reason, so by default wasn't named, but were otherwise identical, bar the Beavertails for the Cornation sets.

The six coaches which formed the dash were First/First 1733/4, Open Third/Kitchen Third 1735/6 & Full Third/Brake Third 1737/8 +the diameter coach, the Brake Third/Kitchen Third 1731/2 was removed to make the train lighter, so the train wasn't much heavier than a normal 6 coach train due to the Coronation coaches been shorter than a normal coach.

If you would like to see some of Sawdust's work. It can be seen the Teak set on the NYMR. Granted over the years there have be repairs made on the set, but that goes with the territory........ What's more having seen Sawdust in action and the results of his work I can vouch for the quality of his skills and the finished product.

This is what the original interior looked like, Am doing lots of making and upholstering carriage seats at the moment myself, so interested in how this part was done. ? Earlier in the thread you said the seats the LNER just bought off the peg from Heals department store (this company still exists), so did you manage to find/make some similar chairs ?

No, it still has the originals, only lacking the settee, which I made.

I think all the originals from both vehicles were put in one when the saloons were enlarged and the other equipped with replacements of a slightly different design

    Sawdust.
PS it looks better in colour.

The rebuilt one had a couple of originals (might have been four actually) when first restored at the GCR, otherwise it entered service with some modern chairs but I believe these have since been replaced with replicas of the originals. (Caveat: it’s a while since I’ve seeninside it)
