The separate events sound a good idea, however maybe September might not be the best time, given that the preservation calendar is already somewhat saturated with September events? Maybe the May gala could become an annual event? Just a thought...

Banked passenger trains up bank might be quite interesting... a good way to let the Beyer bow out gracefully???

Have you never seen her going up the bank????

There's something very graceful about her, even when she is at full cry!!!

Indeed, September is full of events, which must be attended. To name but a few:
    • Tanfield Railways Steam Gala
      Tanfield Railways Steam Gala
      Tanfield Railways Steam Gala

Are you sure you're not on about Bellerophon? \:D/

Never seen the beyer going up the bank, usually on it or pulling/pushing it..... I believe someone got a video of it in the rain at gala though :-k

Personally I always thought the Heath sounded better - in a very crude way. There's a video of her attacking the bank at Bowes with chaldrons on youtube, she looked and sounded so at home!

That's true. Regardless of the loco in question, Heath always sounds better ;-)

Say Glenalmond... any chance of a "Full line freight" (well two thirds of it any way)!!!

As there is always a light engine movement last thing on Saturday and first thing on Sunday... how about the last move of the day on Saturday as the 12 minerals and the brake all the way back to C. Rd? with an engine on both ends the shunt release into "the hole" should be fairly simple... then same Sunday morning... 12 wagons baked up over the crossing!!!!!

I'm pretty sure there are people who would love to see that... and engine crews who'd be up for it... and there would be LOADS of new photo opportunities...!!!

    :-k

Of course... Once again we're counting on the trustee Beyer to represent real engines with a correct number of wheels!!!

Far too many engines running around with training wheels!!!!!

Grape vine tells me that the Bayer has passed its steam test and will be running 'till xmas. Thus this years gala will be her last for a while.

I like the full line coal train idea, I will add that into the plan. Return to C/R Sat evening, out by around 09.00 Sun morning.
