Presumably because it will be a complete rebuild or modification of what exists so has changed from the original one presumably issued in 1991? when they took over?

Yes she has no brakes no cylinders no rods no brakes and half a cab floor, she does still have a drivers seat though if you're feeling adventurous

It is apparently just here for a bottom end overhaul presumably to do with all the above?

Yes I believe the "Important Parts" are still at Swanage shame would have been nice to have seen her do a trip or two like 4160 and 5542 and I believe a few others would have too

A TWO is needed because most of the new works will be built on land that was not part of the original railway and therefore statutory authority is required before any track can be laid.

That was vaguely what I meant but thought you got one in 1991 when you took over but obviously you just inherited the old one!!

Although out of curiosity did it not change when you did Totnes or are they site or section specific.

And therefore won't you need one for any work carried out with new sidings there

I'm sorry to seem a pedant but; if you mean the cylinder covers have been removed and the pistons removed; then simply say so. Removal of cylinders; or I should say, subsequent replacement of cylinders is a non-trivial job. Pistons and cylinder covers are day to day items.

Boldfold fo your information I can say for certain she is in for a bottom end overhaul as it is now on their website as for being picky as not quite sure then have a look at WishIhadA Name's Pictures which he kindly posted.

I believe I was there on the other side of the loco when he took those pics but from memory as wasn't paying too much attention at the time she definatley has no Pistons, Side rods, Parts of Cylinder (i.e top half?), connecting rods, brakes and also half the cab floor is missing. I see these being valuable items to an engine especially as they make it go and hopefully stop so my reference to the "important parts" being missing is quite correct.

Well hopefully there will be a report on it in there there usually is most of the time. Looks much better from a brake van though. Wonder what the railcar passengers thought of it.

Cheers, I assume you have seen the section that passes under the road bridge at Riverford?

Its been a big team effort, but well worth it. There is still a few odds and ends to tidy up, however the temporary speed restriction will be lifted following the visit of the tamper in the first week of March. This section should look good for the Anniversary Gala (April 5th - 13th). In the longer term it is hoped to undertake some repair work on the lineside hut and then add a trolley run off as an extra feature, perhaps with an old Wickham Trolley stabled as an additional feature.

We have also relayed the section from Buckfastleigh to Nursery Pool Bridge. This 40 panel section has been completed in new wooden sleepers and in time, we hope to tidy this section to the same standard. We have also been measuring up to provide a new photographic area just south of Buckfastleigh. This will be accessed from the car park using the former lane that runs alongside the railway. It is hoped to provide an area that allows good shots of trains both arriving and departing.
