5" Steam Turbine

Hi Guys,

A Little while ago I posted about my new toy, thanks for all the help, it turned out a can of butane/propane mix suited nicely, just had to whip up some pipework. A few pics below -

 

Now for the second bit, the reason I purchased this model is because its similar to my college project im currently building and allowed me to do a little bit more research into Steam Turbines. So for my final college project im building a 5" Turbomotive (lightly based upon the LMS example). Its a twin turbine loco, designed to fit in between the frames of a 5" 0-4-0 Railmotor so that a standard boiler can be used. So ive included a few more pics to show you where I am, for those interested.

Not bad matey not bad . have you had words with the model and experimental engineers that you see at shows it would pay to get aquainted as there help would no doubt benifit your engine

 

Not at the minute, as its a Graded Project im doing as much as possible off my own back through flow and motion simulations. If it doesn't work come a few weeks then thats when ill seek help but its a very straight forward project, any problems will be easy to find, locate and re-design.

 

That's mega Cool, if you fancy bringing it to North Wales when it's finished we have quite a nice track

 

Another update for those interested.

 

Are you using those small brass bevels for drive?
If so, are you planning to ride behind it?

 

Am indeed! If the bevel your refering to is the one on the reduction gear, ignore it, its going to be replaced by another sproket and chain.
