If 21B says the 7F is being used on the Steam Illuminations, it will be! Pity the Diwali train has been liquidated by lockdown.

Presumably, the S&DRT could rent back (if it wished to) the Museum & signal box from the Plc; they are small spaces so it should not be expensive.
Am I right in thinking that access to the S&DRT yard is generally quite restricted? If there were no Museum or 'box & no access to the yard then there's really no reason for anyone to stop at WD. One less gem in the string.
Neither the Plc nor the S&DRT seems to be gaining anything at all.

More forward thinking by the MHR marketing dept , Targeting families that might not ordinarily visit a steam railway, is it a culture thing, in my time on the railway, I don't recall ever seeing a family of south Asian heritage visit the Watercress line ? but any move to attract extra visitors has to be applauded.

It looks as though the S&DRT sees its future on the museum front to be away from the WSR and that makes a great deal of sense as there's far more in common between the S&D and the L&SWR than anything GW.

I guess the coach restoration work may continue at Washford? As for the 7F, that's separate conversation, I guess.

But the whole rationale was supposedly that the yard at Washford was needed wasn't it? It would seem very odd to cause all that trouble just to eventually regain the liability of the station. I wouldn't have thought it would be workable to have the yard as a P'way yard while the S&D carry on occupying the shed and necessarily the connecting tracks?

I keep making the mistake of trying to rationalise the WSR's actions on the Washford front though, when it was plainly irrational from the start, so who knows.

I would imagine, that over the next year , or so, some of the Trust's items will move to the MHR, and once plans are firmed up, i would imagine the focus will be on setting up things at their new location, and that activities will wind down at Washford, The way i read the situation is that over this next 10 years, the trust will actively move away from the WSR because the scope available for them to do much will just not be there. And the talk of a new 10 year lease, is just a way to allow the trust to extradite them selves over a more achievable time span.

I was wondering about the apparent delay in signing the new lease, after the earlier announcement of same (a delay that has now necessitated this extension). The original press release about the new lease arrived in my emailbox on 7 November, 2020 (I looked it up to see exactly what it said, this thread doesn't contain the text), so that's been over three months. At the very least, that would seem to indicate that there are complexities (I acknowledge that that period includes Christmas and New Year's, and there's been the second COVID wave; all of which would slow things down). Any additional information (not speculation; I'm perfectly capable of doing that on my own) would be welcome.

I agree, with the proviso that it should be accurate information. There was been some speaking with forked tongue from the WSR.

Ah! X has spoken - what can this runic comment mean?

(A week later: Reddit and 4Chan full of the XAnon conspiracy about goings on at Washford ...)

Some people need to get out more, oh sorry, i forgot we can't,
As regards any new news on the new lease etc, I guess we will have to wait and see what happens, But once you split your self between two, or possibly more locations, something must give, and Activity at Washford, surely will be effected, If some of the stock being transfered to the MHR is going to be operated, then the trust will need to organise working parties, same as when the museum idea with the MHR comes to fruitition,
