There is a GWR diesel railcar No 20 at the KESR that is being restored, not seen it but travelled a few times in the similar one at Didcot. How is it progressing and when will it be finished ?

Here is a recent picture I found on the net of it

It looks like it is nearly finished there that will be good to see. I bet there are lots of railways that would want to buy it as the Kent railway is nowhere near where they used to run. I expect Bodmin south Devon, plym valley, Helston, cholsey and walking word would all like it for a go. So many places it would look amazing on. I really like this rail car

Why would the K&ESR want to sell? It’s spent more time in Kent than anywhere else in its life! :Googleit::Banghead::Banghead::Banghead::Banghead::Banghead:

Unlikely ever to come on the market imho. It formed the first ever paying passenger train on the K&ESR in the modern preservation period in 1974, having arrived 8 years earlier. The restoration is well progressed but currently on hold due to the pandemic, like so many other projects nationwide I imagine.

Cheers for that Paul, can I be the first to start the livery debate and say what a lovely shade of green that under coat is? ;)

Network South East livery would work well [runs away and hides]

By that logic, will there be a Pannier tank, a 2-8-0 tank and two 0-6-2 tanks for sale as well?

Restoration seems to be progressing well. Looking forward to a ride on this one day.
