It will be good if they can put another one up at the other end to as in pictures and on google maps the station looks very empty and not very interesting

The Railway Heritage Trust gave the CWR £229k for the project and I would imagine that it cost a good bit more than that.

So where would you suggest that they get £250k and a Brunel canopy from?
It seems to me that the connection at Cholsey is the starting point, not the destination, so if the station 'looks very empty and not very interesting' it doesn't really matter. Also, remember that Cholsey is an NR owned station so the CWR will be restricted in what it can do in the area (especially so close to the overhead wires).

It doesn’t need to be expensive. On google there is a siding they could have a coach there. I saw a film about slip coaches that great western used they could have something about that there

Give him time and he’ll find the siding for his latest exhibitionist coach on google earth .Just a little tied up at present project managing the MHR extension ,plotting the Lyndon and Barnstaple route and overhauling the fabulous Kilmersdon for future hire to the Ffestiniog whilst trying to complete his colouring book during half term .

Here it is from google as you can see there is lots of space at the side for a steps and a useful display coach. I don’t know if they ever slipped one at cholsey but they did further along that line so it would be a good local thing to show. Or they could chose another display for the coach it’s up to them 8A952559-6E24-4A0F-9BAD-E8F13BC00B74.jpeg

Are you serious? That siding is approx 600ft (according to Google maps) from the end of the platform. How would you suggest that people would get to/from this coach? What do they do when they want to leave? They're stuck in between the NR mainline and the CWR running line. Not even remotely feasible.

As a Scots colleague said his gran used to tell him, "run away and play in the middle of the road".

Unfortunately this thread is joining the ranks of others that are being derailed by one poster's efforts and anyone looking for information amidst the exchanges is going to find it harder than necessary. A shame as the transformation of the Wallingford line is very welcome and a tale worth following.

The problem is lots projects don’t happen because people think they too dificult. They could still do this as it would just need a path. Or possible the field a cross the track could be a way over or a halt platform along the side it.

Ah! It's the all encompassing "they" again. I'm sure it looks very easy when you're sitting at home making 'helpful' suggestions as to how they could do the job better.
Could I ask at which heritage railway do you volunteer? Of course you don't .... your avatar says so. BTW you do realise that your avatar photo is of a Dukedog not a City don't you?

Lots of ideas also don’t happen because they are a bad idea and cost a lot whilst contributing nothing . I will move this flight of fantasy to a separate thread

City of truro fan may be a little frustrating at times but not sure this kind of tone helps - just ignore him if it bothers you. You don't know what's going on in CoTF's life (other then being overly enthusiastic), and these kind of posts end-up derailing threads as much as the poster themselves did

But just because something can be done, it doesn't mean it should be done. The C&W is developing a nice little branch line terminus at Wallingford and in my opinion that's the ideal site to display this particular item of vintage rolling stock. A far more pleasant environment than being sandwiched between a pair of running lines with problems of access.

Yes this is a good idea. The gwili railway has a large area next to there new station but I haven’t seen it because of the covid119 stopping everything. They may like to have a coach there. I am going to dad cholsey and walignford to my list so I can see what is there properly it is an interesting place
