    Morning all

Pleased to announce the return visit of pannier tank L92 until December 2021. We would like to thank both the South Devon Railway and Worcester Loco Society for thier kind assistance in agreeing to the hire.

We are also very much look forward to pairing L92 with GWR carraige 216 of 1888 during the year, which is the subject of a lottery-funded overhaul to working order.

    regards

    Matt

    Hi matt,

Great news about L92, I wanted to do the driver taster experience on her but I'm guessing covid makes that impossible?

Will it just be LOW available to steam or are there resident locos in operable condition?

Moorbarrow is nearing the end of her 10 year overhaul - should be ready within a few months subject to the usual caveats

Moorbarrow is looking great, shed makes a real difference. I don't remember the gwili having such a quick turnaround on a loco with so much done in house! Incredible, great stuff!

The shed has made a big difference to be honest, hopefully something of a game changer for us. Our volunteers and staff have also been working hard on the job and full credit to them.

    regards

May be a taste of things to come this year...5764 with the two vintage carriages back in 2006.

A good day as the new crane is in action for the first time on our railway and the south points at Abergwili are being replaced.

    Another update

The crane was in use today and the crossing switch was lifted in. As you can see a little bit of joining up work and then the track curves around the corner towards Carmarthen....

also attached is the present state of play with GWR 216, the doors are the present focus with some being patched up and some new side pieces made by a contractor and delivered so we can replace the worst ones. Lots of parts on order including GWR luggage rack brackets, blind holders and door bumpers via our friends at the GWR (SVR) Association, all helps with the finishing touches...

    regards

    Matt

Great to see 216 coming along, I bet that siding space is much needed. Anything else happening with the layout in the immediate term?

    hi Tom

yes, our recent track recoveries have yielded more point work which will enable us to add additional sidings. Exact timescale will depend on commitment to the running line before we re-open but hopefully more progress later this year.

    Hi CoT Fan

the extension is only a short one, it is really just a siding to the end of our site (about 8/9 panels). It won’t be part of the running line.

    regards

That is good news. The site is a big site hopefully when I see it will have lots going on it. And even the taf vale engine and old coaches running! Or at least one like they used to add into a train years ago. It will be nice to see it take one up the gwili.

“take one up the gwili” sounds like a definition in Roger’s Profanisaurus?
