I'm a sucker for these things. It would be nice if it runs at the gala (and if that takes place), because I have my eyes on going :)

I think it is safe to say that 6435 will make an appearance at the gala, and that the line up will include several other tank engines.

Currently watching a Film on Talking Pictures TV, "Runaway Railway" (made in 1965) which features a former MHR resident 68011 Erroll Lonsdale. It was filmed at Longmoor Military Railway and it also features 600 Gordon. Ronnie Barker appears as a criminal (before Porridge!) carrying out a train robbery on a "preserved railway" operated by children! I had never heard of this film before. Anyone else familiar with it? It is repeated early on 24th March on channel 81.

Sounds like the Great St Trinnians Train Robbery that was filmed at the Longmoor Military Railway .

It may be worth noting that Will has just uploaded a new Watercress Line Films video to You Tube & Facebook, covering the start of the remodelling at Alresford.

They sound similar, but are two different films. I have seen both of them.:) Now then, I wonder how many people on here have seen the film "Clockwork Mice"?:)

Copy of the 'The Runaway Railway' here with Bordon taking the role of Barming in the film. Ronnie Barker and Jon Pertwee would have been better known for their roles in the 'Navy Lark' at the time. Like many of the Children's Film Foundation films well worth watching for being filmed outside in every day communities, a real time capsule.

9 carriage operation? Good for future mainline tours and light trains.

It would be possible to accommodate up to 13 in future.

Many thanks for the link, I have watched it but have I got it right that the down platform is to be extended to take up to nine coaches?

The effect of the changes is that platform 2 road (down) will allow a runaround move on about 12 or 13 coaches. The platform 1 road (up) will accommodate 8 or 9. The platforms are not being extended as part of the current works.

A timely video about the Mid Hants push to Alton, narrated by the late Murray Walker.

Shaggy's post also has the late Chris Bitton another of the many who the line has lost over recent years, Getting back to the title of Will's video, is that the new covid plan, there going to not let you leave the train, they are going to keep you in the loop :) first at Alton, then run non stop, back hold you in the loop at Alresforf, with all doors locked before departing again
