I don’t think it’s exclusive is it? Didn’t 60163 do a movement under DC Rail a few years ago? I believe both B1’s had a few problems with WC in the past.

LSL hire in DBC crews but that will decline over time as they acquire their own. I can’t remember the last time they crewed 6233 and 60007 is now under LSL. Has DBC ever worked 60103 apart from when it hauled the Belmond?

Yes when WC had its ban 60103 ran its LE move from York to KX and its return under DB

Just quickly stepping back to last weeks LSL jolly, and this is probably one for @Romsey is there a reason you would run a train as ECS when it isn't, are track access charges the cheaper for instance or was it just a ruse to try and get round lockdown.

As @Matt37401 mentioned above, yes. Also a couple pathfinder tours utilising 60103 have seen DB crews. 6233 ran with DB back in 2016 on a run to Scotland when WC had a brief pause albeit running with WC stock.

Regarding 6233 and 60007, just because LSL have a degree of exclusivity with the locos doesn’t mean owning groups won’t take on additional work. The PRCLT have good relations with Tyseley who are keen to see 6233 work on the books.

DCR was stated above and did a couple of moves almost a decade ago now with 60163, but never gained a passenger carrying certificate and it seems they have taken steam operations no further.

This topic is taking a degree of thread drift and may require its own thread..?

I don't know, but the type of traction and overall train load does affect track access charges.

    Cheers, Neil

AFIK ECS is cheaper than class 1 trains. Also I believe that you pay per vehicle - probably explains why the HST recci to Carlisle was just 2x class 43's back-to-back!!!

Thank you. I presume 3 locos will be up at Fort William initially. Is that right?

    From what I was told, it's 45407, 45212 and 62005 this year.
Not sure when 62005 will be heading up however

Same as most of last year and the year before unless 44871 makes an appearance like at the end of last year. Will the afternoon train still have mk2 coaches?

Are LSL doing a route learner in time for the 25th July Aberdonian or will DBC help out on that as a one off?

Under the charter Track Access Contract there is no difference between Cl.1 and Cl.5 pricing or, indeed, the length of the train, as it is calculated on a per train basis; there are different rates for LE and steam, noting that steam + PO brake is an Cl.5 move. All charter TACs have common terms but holders are able to choose a higher mileage rate with a lower limit of performance 'cap' or vice versa, ie. you pays your money and takes your choice.

The only way to get a lower rate is by running under a freight TAC (which would, rather obviously, preclude a Cl.1!), where the charges are lower and calculated per vehicle but the performance 'cap' is much, much higher.
