The Somerset Explorer, 34067, 14/02/09

Surprised there is no thread on this yet. Early into Reading, on time departure. Pulled out well with lots of clag/exhaust steam in the cold air. Looks like the same stock as used by 60163 last saturday. Hope to go to Twyford tonight.

 

Planing to nip out to Heywood Rd Jnct to see '67 pass on the Westbury avoiding line. Due 11.53 I believe.

 

Nearly caught me out 8 mins early at Westbury. Hope to have a clip on Youtube later.

Caught 34067 at Kintbury this morning.

 

Spot on time at Twyford on the return. Going really well on the relief considering a standing start from Reading.

 

Saw Tangmere running at Crofton, great weather and still water on the Canal.

Will post something later this weekend.

Thanks to Pewsey Beaste? or was it PhotoMatt for mentioning that Grately was within striking distance of Crofton.

 

Ah, so I wasn't the only one who did Crofton and Grateley. I thought about the shot down by the canal, but decided at the last minute to try up on the hill instead.

Saw it in Sonning cutting on the return journey, considering the standing start at Reading it was going quiet even here!

 

It was me who suggested it - I managed Pewsey & Greatley. Glad to see it was helpful. Crofton is a fantastic Location.

Pewsey quite busy, though a lack of Pewsey Vale Spotter mafia - who were present a Greatley: obviously concerned about getting across the plain and through the delights of Tidworth in time.

Hi David - welcome to the Forum, at last! Lovely shots, especially the second one. You and Ben have really got the hang of this video lark now. My only criticism (trivial really) is the of the rather obtrusive captions. Personally, I prefer smaller and simpler captions, shown before the train comes into view. You could have put one caption over that nice little cut-away of the canal leet. But as I said, it's a small point compared to the shots themselves.

What does "ovps" stand for?
