Unlikely when they’ve got an 08 (or is it an 11?) for that purpose already.

I have always found it a bit odd, and somewhat contradictory, that many S&DRT members (and others) complained about 53808 being in Prussian Blue as 'not prototypical', yet seemed quite happy to have full-lined S&DJR Prussian Blue livery applied to a loco which (a) never belonged to the S&DJR and (b) did not even work on a colliery connected to the S&DJR. But I think we could agree that, coupled to Coach 4, it did look rather nice and a good 'advert' for the S&D :)

Arguably a bucket is too small. A parachute tank perhaps?:)

It should be remembered that even with a well equipped, if smallish, carriage works it has taken very skilled people several decades in the IOW to restore nine carriages to use plus heavy overhauls on five more. There's a lot to do especially as one vehicle has eighteen slam doors! Add to this several goods vehicles, some of which have wooden frames made new plus a bespoke display cabinet for the museum. If you go to Havenstreet do make a point of seeing what goes on in the carriage works.

There's a heck of a lot more to railways than motive power or track extensions.:Resistanceisfutile:

Of course, my point was simply that if you painted it in its NCB colours then it wouldn't have far to go if you wanted it to pretend to be Percy.

Admittedly the MHR doesn't have the coaching stock, but the S15s in Southern liveries and the 7F in pre-nationalisation colours would make a nice change from everything being in BR colours. (That said, I am pleased the Schools is running in BR colours because they always seem to be in Southern colours - variety is the spice of life).

What colours did Kilmersdon Colliery paint their engines before nationalisation?

Given the apparently very S&D focussed objectives of the S&D trust it is surprising that Kilmersdon actually fits in to the organisation at all.

Maybe you ought to get into your time machine and go back to the 1970s and have an argument with the NCB and S&DRMT about it then.

NCB - how dare you gift the loco to those people at Radstock and S&DRMT, how dare you accept the offer.

Three 08s and an 11 in fact though one of the 08s is a little way off running again, but who is counting? Anyway none of them is nearly as much fun as a Peckett.

In a few years time, who knows we might even see the little Peckett at the head of some vintage coaches running Alresford to Ropley shuttles mixing it with the big boys,

With 30926 Repton already in BR Green from memory. what a shame 30925 Cheltenham wasn’t repainted in to BR lined black. Does anyone know the last time a SR V class loco was seen in BR black?

    Cheers

Unfortunately, its always down to the NRM ,what livery one of their engines carries, perhaps, during its next ticket, assuming the NRM gives approval for it to be overhauled when it's current ticket expires, it might appear in BR lined Black.

If you attached a shed to the back of it you'd have your very own The Bug to survey your kingdom

A kind thought, but I have no delusions of grandeur. If it be a kingdom it belongs to the members and shareholders not me. Anyway no need of a shed. We have an inspection saloon.

Having even one pre-Nationalisation locomotive in BR colours is still one too many. I'd honestly rather return Flying Scotsman to her Marchington/Kennington configuration than have her as she is now. I don't care if it's technically inaccurate or ahistorical: I'd also turn out Swanage in Southern Malachite as 21c205... and, getting vaguely back on topic, I'd much rather the 7Fs were Prussian Blue and Crimson Lake respectively...

I BET TO DIFFER, 30120 looks the mutts nuts in 1950's BR lined black Swanage was never a Southern Railway engine, she was built after nationalisation, and as ever its down to the owners to paint their engines in what ever livery they deem fit.

No, the sooner 120 is returned to SR or LSWR livery the better. Maybe it will be done to match 563? Yet another loco in BR livery does get very boring.

Maybe not Swanage, but Manston was the very last loco built by the Southern Railway. Get the malachite paint out!

Cue the ‘it’s only a protective coating it doesn’t matter what colour it is’ comments!

Boring? The only thing boring about BR or any other livery are those who constantly bang on about it. What matters is if 120 can be overhauled and seen working again, not what colour it is painted.

    Just my opinion
