In actual fact neither is correct the true blue is much darker, both of these “blues” in Caledonia days had been made to go further by mixing with white , different works used either 25 or33% to stretch the blue hence the different shades
    In effect an acceptable malpractice

So surely both blues are correct, if that was standard works practice at the time?

And the Melter would have to be well over 100 to have ever seen a blue engine painted by the Caledonian Rly Co, so we can pretty much ignore his claim to what is correct along with everybody elses. You might well think you know what colour is correct but it is purely a figment of your imagination, and since everyones perception of colour differs whose to say whats right or wrong. They're both blue engines which I can detect is different from red, yellow, green, brown, and black engines, beyond that who knows, or cares, certainly not me.

Back on thread, for those who haven't seen it, the MHR has recently popped up a good video showing the new track work at Alresford. In it the commentary quite clearly signals the plans for inclusion of the S&D and their stock. So Washford is rapidly becoming history.

Yes, i noticed that Matt said the S&D stock, or some of it will be going into the new siding, i would imagine the most historical items will be displayed,
I would hope that the two S&D coaches can be moved to Ropley and eventually go into the carriage shop to be rebuilt hopefully as part of a plan along with the 3 brighton vehicles to form a vintage 4 wheel rake, that can be used either for shuttles, or, as part of Thomas themed days,

Although the S&DRT will still be there for the next ten years. It would be interesting to know whether they are now paying the "correct" rent.

Has that been agreed yet, or are they still on (extended) notice?

There has been a 6 month extension to the Notice to Quit re Washford so currently the Notice to Quit now expires in 10th July 2021. The rental payments would be as per the current lease, which is the "correct" rent.

Thanks, so it's not certain whether the S&DRT will still be at Washford for the next ten years.

I thought it the extension was from Feb, so + 6 months would = August?

It's not clear; they might have up to 10 years to get themselves organized, and fully moved out, but also have the ability to terminate the lease before 10 years is up without major penalty (like a typical flat rental). It will depend on the fine print in the (as yet unsigned, and presumably still being negotiated) lease.

Well, with the groups Pecket going not back to Washford, but to Alresford must be a strong indication that the trust see their future as being away from the WSR, It's going to take time, as well as money to move their collection out, Obviously the MHR can't take every thing, so some items will go elsewhere but i would not be surprised if by August much of the collection will either have been moved, or is on the move,

The rental payments under the current lease are the correct rent, which is far too low, according to certain persons in the Plc. The "correct" rent is the rent that those persons think the Plc should have been receiving.

well after August they won't be getting any rent. But hey, at least the PLC will have shown everyone who is boss, and Washford will have had a coat of paint. All hail the PLC and their unending genius.

What's the situation at Alresford, if the Trust are allowed to use that siding, will they be paying for it? or will the MHR PLc take the view of your enhancing our railway, and treat them as just another part of the railway, and allow them use of it, and in return the members of the Trust, who want to help with restoring not just their items but anything else of historic value to everyone, are welcome, subject to passing necessary safety requirements to join those groups, , i would hope that the working membership of the S&D Trust, find a welcoming bunch of people, who will work together to both groups benefit especially as far as the coaches are concerned, that is one aspect where the MHR carriage and Wagon, could work with those S&D members who wish to see their vintage coaches restored, to everyones advantage, Especially if the first coach to be tackled is the brighton brake 3rd, that could then form a short mixed rake of Coaches and Wagons, for special days, and of course, once the Peckett is overhauled, WIBN  To let it loose on the 1 in 60 with the two 4 wheelers, as a members day special working to Alton,

The situation at Alresford has been made perfectly clear. The Watercress Line is welcoming a new member of the family. We will all work together to tell the story of single track mainlines, the S and D, the MHR and their parent LSWR within a railway that will continue to portray a period of that collective history from the around the end of the second world war to the middle 1960s.

It will take time to display things where we want and arrange them to help with the narrative. Why not come and see how we are getting on as the year progresses?

More vehicles will arrive soon, and buildings, and by the autumn there should be some quite exciting first shoots of collaboration.

If you want to know more, come and visit we are very friendly!

I understand that some of the SDRT stock might be based at the Avon Valley Railway.
