Unfortunately no, at the moment. As with so many things over this last year with regards to the pandemic and lock-downs muddying the waters. there might be but......

The line is currently severed due to a land slip, work on which is ongoing and which is one reason why the tamper is coming out to play. Current plan is to re-open when step 3 comes into being, currently no earlier than 17th May. At this moment it is planned to be a normal timetable but that is subject to review. Some training trains are likely to be operating on various mid-week dates from the end of March.

Must admit, that I'd forgotten about the landslip between Grosmont and Goathland Steve. Though otherwise I was pretty well correct in thinking mid to late May for a possible re-opening.

Is the landslip in the same area as the previous one on the approach to bridge 30 heading North from Goathland? I seem to remember that a remote camera was placed to observe any further movement. Ta in advance for any replies.

Indeed the landslip has always been an on going issue with the line especially on the Grosmont - Goathland section. Dating back to the pre 1965 closure of the line, there'd always be a Ganger walk the line Goathland - Grosmont to check for any overnight slips before the first train of the day. He report in at Grosmont as to the conditions..... As Ploughman/Bryan will confirm "we" still do have a visual check at least weekly with somebody walking the line.

Does anyone know if there's some kind of problem with the NYMR Unofficial Forum?
I was registered ages ago, and enjoyed reading it. Then I was asked to re-register as all data from the old forum had been lost, and now, no matter how many times I try to request an email verification to re-join, I never receive the email. Looks like I am not going to regain access at all.

    Richard. :(

Presume you’ve checked your spam folder? If that isn’t it, most likely the forum owner hasn’t set email up on the server properly, which doesn’t inspire confidence.

Yes, checked spam folder - Nothing. I did contact Gary@stainburn.... a few months ago and he said he'd re-set my details so I could login, but it's still the same.

The unofficial Forum is still going although it has much less traffic than it used to thanks to Facebook capturing much of the interesting stuff. I've e-mailed Gary to alert him to your problem and hopefully it can be resolved.

Folks, the May 15th date is the one we are working towards. Many reasons why but getting the new carriage shed finished, sorting the landslip and competence running are some of the factors. However, there is a possible filming contracts in the pipeline for April to offset the missed revenue. The railway is in a good position not to have to rush straight into running from April 12th, I hope you will all be patient with us?

Steam on the Moors this morning, via Grosmont webcam. The K1 shunting some stock around the station.
