Today's railway activity was a LE run in the mornings heavy rain seen from the bedroom window and a loaded run photographed at Dickers Crossing this afternoon. It could be argued this shot is "illegal" as it is outside Swanage but I can walk there in about 20 minutes and those that know Dickers will vouch of the exercise walking back up entails. Nice to see and hear 80104 and 33111 on training operations today. Could almost be 2019 again!

This is confusing. And doesn’t help work out what engine it’s going to be next. I hope they don’t change the number over it’s silly as that engine is also there

So, what's confusing about it and why is it silly?
We all know that 31806 has had the boiler that was destined for 31874 so that 31806 could remain in service, I'm pretty sure that the U will revert to it's former guise with smoke deflectors and it's correct smokebox number.

Lovely day at Corfe yesterday. Lots of activity getting ready for operations again. Everyone in a cheerful, upbeat mood. B4A73BC6-FD7B-46D7-8806-8471B257E99A.jpeg D9CA9E21-9980-45C4-AD87-34237DD1395A.jpeg

We know that, but it’s a perfectly valid comment to say it’s confusing for the general public.

I’ve seen a few comments on Facebook with people asking if it’s 31806 or 31874. Someone even replied and said it is 31874 as it’s 31874’s boiler and it is just using 31806’s frames.

Could end up in a long Ship of Theseus (Trigger's broom) discussion
Agree, drop the numbers, call it James and keep visiting children happy!

Whilst on the way to Boots to collect my wife's drugs I watched the 31874 plate being removed yesterday afternoon. Kind of Boots to let her know yesterday so I could photograph the operation.

They should have left it on and changed the cab side ones to 31874. Would have fooled a few people tomorrow!

I remember 34067 running on the Mid Hants one April 1st in the early nineties.

Thank you for the images. Keep an eye on those station signs given the thefts from Arley(SVR). A roster of station visits is a simple but effective means of deterrence. CCTV obviously has no deterrent value only, hopefully, identifiying the culprits.

Or change one cab side to 31625, so all three are represented...
