And the K1 plus 3 Mk1s backed out onto the Esk Valley for a Ghost/refresher training run to Battersby. Not only does that keep the drivers hand in for the route, but also the Moors option for ocassional running that way too. Over and above to Whitby.

Great to see the K1 on the Moors again. Was the loco out again today?

 

Don't honestly know. But the K1 was in steam in the station at around 10 this morning.

I must admit I liked the new appearance for Repton that appeared this morning on Facebook! Very smart, and the railway did well to keep the transformation under wraps!

Looking forward to seeing that, looks like 926 is being used as a Schools science lab.

 

We have the Indian Red Snowplough, then the Blue Snowplough SNG, so why not have a Green one as well?

 

A welcome sight today with LNER K1 No.62005 hauling crew refresher services between Grosmont and Battersby on the Esk Valley line - 2nd April 2021.

When I heard the haunting sound of that LNER whistle as she came through Egton Bridge, I broke into a big grin as finally I could see some mainline steam again. I was in the area for work so only had time for the afternoon run which was a little grey but a great sight nonetheless.

As something of a follow up to Simon above. Here's some more footage from nymrfootage of the K1 62005 on a "Ghost" refresher run to/from Whitby._

 

Enjoyed this apart from the confusion of travel direction. MPD scenes very interesting, never seen the ICI water crane being used before, it is obviously the default place to refill before disposal.

 

Must be one of the most used columns on the railway, its just not that visible from the public areas.
