The poor engine looked like it was going to blow up at the end! What happened? Is this what finished it, why did the crew push it so far?

Most people on here know a fair bit about it as it has been aired several times. In a nutshell, the loco got into a slip, the driver hadn't put the catch in on the reverser which started spinning wildly. He couldn't do anything to stop that but didn't do anything about shutting the regulator. The NELPG support crew guy eventually shut the reg but the damage had been done. The result wa a badly damaged loco which was eventually repaired and the loco saw out its remaining boiler 'ticket'.

Thats a bit of an unfair thing to say really as there could well be youngsters who were too young to remember this incident who are asking a straight forward question via these pages.

Although this is all very interesting, isnt the first clip on youtube taken from a railway video?

If this is the case?

Does the producer know, as if not this is against copyright laws?

Best plan there then would be to write to the producer and ask him. We could have a rogues gallery. Named and shamed photographers, people poaching a bit of film, people hanging out of train windows with video cameras. :smt100 ](*,)

 

I knew BP had problems, but I didnt know what happened, hence why I asked.

Does anyone know of any photos of the loco after the accident, particularly the motion and cylinders?

 

You're surely not suggesting that there could be pirate video on YouTube? Perish the thought!

 

The only ones I recall seeing at the time were in Steam Railway and The Railway Magazine.

 

The video was produced and sold by a company which no longer exists. You would have great difficulty saying this is a breach of copyright.

 

Any idea which issue that would have been at all?
