OK. How's this for ingenious. Not a Garratt I grant you, but the South Americans seem to have liked Kitson Meyers - Rack ones at that.
Note the auxiliary drive to the Rack Pinion above the footplate, astride the smokebox.

Have always likes Kitson Meyers. Has anyone considered repatriating one to Britain? One is mounted on a bit of track on the Tal Tal railway and 3 in Argentina from the Transandian Railway. Apparently some might still survive at Uyuni steam graveyard in Bolivia

What about Monarch? It is I think the only Meyer in the UK.

There is a a 15 inch gauge Kitson Meyer on the Kirklees Light Railway. I think it is actually based on a Barclay loco. The Kitson variation allowed space for a proper firebox. The Bagnall locos has marine fireboxes and there is another loco like Monarch preserved in the US.

If you like Meyers then Saxony is the place to go. There are several 750mm gauge Meyers working on preserved railways there.

This is the 'other' Bagnall under overhaul at the Cripple Creek and Victor Railroad in Colorado in 2012.

I can only recall seeing a couple of very short clips of film of LMS Garratts' from the 1950s' but came across a brief glimpse in this video said to be from 1935 (certainly pre dates their 1938 re numbering) towards the end of an interesting short film about the industry of Lancashire. The railway engineering part starts 7'27'' in and the works featured prior to the Garratt's were I think those of Vulcan and the type under construction reminds me of the repatriated locomotive from China in the NRM.

Apologies I cannot post a direct link but it is the first link of vimeo in the attached google search

Sorry to continue the thread drift on Diesel braking, but I was wondering if a "Jake brake" has ever been used on a Diesel locomotive.

A well known model engineer has built a working model of a Columbian 2-8-0+0-8-2 Kitson-Meyer which has performed some haulage feats in recent years. (He has also built a working Leader)

Incidentally there are some photos of a 7 1/4 U1 at the same event if you look at the rest of the album too
