Some weeks back I was contacted by someone claiming to be from the Cambrian Rlwys Society (posting under the name of Cambrian on Narrow Gauge Heaven - can't recall if they posted here too). The name given was Chris Miller, working on behalf of John Price, Oswestry.
Chris claimed that at least part of the reinstated line that the Society was to run would be 3' gauge, because of trackbed encroachment.
He asked me - with the offer of free membership - to research over here in the States for any 3' gauge locos or stock that might be available. I was contacted by email several times.
I did a lot of web searching and sent this person at least half a dozen emails with people to contact and various leads I'd found. I also emailed various railroads over here.
As you've probably guessed by now - I heard narry a peep from Chris/Cambrian after that point!

Is there anyone out there who knows more about this? Is Chris real? Is he sick or has he left the project? I feel there's no point emailing him again, as all my last messages went unanswered. Does anyone have a contact email for John Price?

And the difference in loading gauge between British standard gauge and U.S. 3' would be.....? Have you had a loading gauge spec? Sounds a little rum I'm afraid.

Generally speaking, I understand a K36 fits the same general space envelope as a Britannia (and even has similar tractive effort)

I've just found this - was there ever any truth to it?

I think it was a genuine suggestion at the time, but was later abandoned.

3 foot gauge is very hard to source compared to 2' or 3' or metre gauge. How odd

ps see thread about Morda Oswestry
