Lynton and Barnstaple - Operations and Development

Well all the refresher training went well sunday along with test runs last week so tomorrow is looking promising

 

The L&BR had a reasonable number of passengers last week after reopening the line following the lifting of the Covid lockdown regulations. Also in the report are some notes about the recently installed new Electronic Point Of Sale Till System which will serve the railway well when we extend the line.

Thanks for the update re the re-opening visitor numbers. It is also good to see that the railway is future proofing it's IT/POS system.

Thanks for letting us know about this report and pictures. It is surprising how quickly it looks as though the extention was never there - it looks more like the station now.

 

What an amazing days work! Congratulations to everyone concerned with the transformation. You now have an exceedingly pretty station.

I assume you mean the 'Up Starting' ?

 

Jings that is impressive work.

 

I very much doubt it.

Firstly, Chelfham has a short section of track already laid. It's located on the 'Down' side between the viaduct and the platform. And secondly, I have no doubt that the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway management team will be far more focused on laying the 4½ miles or so of railway track between Killington Lane (Bridge 65) and Wistlandpound (Bridge 52) to complete the extension.

 

True, but... I would suggest that might be no obstacle to the volunteers at Chelfham 'doing their own thing' if they so wished and had the time and resources to devote to it. After all, erecting replica signals is very nice and a most welcome addition, but they might look a bit incongruous without any track In any case, I would suspect there is still much work to be done on the main infrastructure of buildings and platform etc.

 

Yeah I do lol, too much talk of signals at the weekend and measuring has addled the brain a bit
