Matt - I can't believe you have just asked that:(. It wouldn't be going there if it wasn't. And to prove that this is nothing new here is 57313 at Arrochar & Tarbet in 2008 route learning for a proposed timber contract that didn't materialise (Note that this is before it came into WCR ownership).

Having a ‘I used to know that’ moment Peter! As soon as I sent it I had memories of 47826(?) going to Mallaig come back to me. I will now go back under my rock and hide :)

Yes, but the Sectional Appendix lists a number of bridges with speed restrictions and the prohibition of double headed members of the class (except for providing assistance).

One might expect the steam locos to be in light steam when they've got the diesel to help, but they seemed to be doing a good share of the work. Was the triple-header just the easiest way of getting the diesel up to FW?

ITS Disgraceful that a perfectly capable diesel isnt allowed to run without a steam banker these days, Ok they maybe needed to heat the train, but surely they should be out of sight at the back, and just ticking over not shoving away making all that noise...:p

We may not have shops or pubs open up here, we aren't even allowed to leave the city, but we did get double-headed Black 5s without a diesel on the front in the sun yesterday, and that'll do nicely for now. Seen at Springburn with steam to spare, all looking cracking, especially the coaches which appear to have had a repaint.

There's a VST from Carnforth to Carlisle in the morning, will a diesel be tagging along with 62005?

Yes, weather has been very dry up here and so I believe precautions are being taken.

Picked this up from the website - Clan Line is having a Loaded Test Run on Friday 7th May. Looks like using the following:
1145 London Victoria to Chertsey (via the ‘picturesque’ West London Line) where water will now be taken for the Surrey Hills curcuit - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U91323/2021-05-07/detailed.
    1349 Chertsey to London Victoria - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U91324/2021-05-07/detailed.

You may find the attached file (WLL Gradient Profile.PDF) interesting - l produced this a while ago, but it seems appropriate to post it now. If you open it the upper black line is my simplification of the lower grey line which shows the 'raw' change of slope at each marker. The second page shows it in tabulated form.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for the gradient profile.

For future reference, these are STP workings using the WTT timings. ( Until they are changed again.)
It's good to see the Surrey Hills circuit has gone back to running FL Stoats Nest Jn to Pouparts Jn for SX workings.
Saturdays have a 1221 start and run via Richmond, but are SL Stoats Nest Jn to Balham on the return.

    Cheers, Neil
