I were up this weekend and decidied to spend a day around the padarn country park.

does anyone know whether the restored incline ever works?

and i noticed that just to the left of vivian quarry that where one of the splitting sheds are near the restored incline that the whole section looks like its ready to go over... :-#

    anyone know anything about either?

Yes the incline does work.... well sort of!... it's now electrically powered for demonstrational purposes which kind of defeats the object of a gravity incline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDHOkvld4lU

Whole sections of galleries do collapse quite often at Dinorwic quarry.... usually after a hard frost. What you describe sounds a bit worrying.... I'll have a look next week.

Have to admit that this is a place I tend to pop into (fairly frequently) rather than visit for extended periods, but I've never happened to find the restored trwnc incline (V2) working. A pity, as it's a neat piece of restoration and the electric drive is well concealed. If anyone has any tips (unintentional slate pun...) about when it's likeliest to be working, I suspect quite a few people would like to know.

restored in 1998 but ive never seen it working, it looks like its incline is starting to pull itself apart near the road underpass....then the shelf higher up which has already had what looks like reinforcements and underpinning done is coming away aswell :-#

I went in the winding house on it first day in service, I have only seen it work from a distance since then! I'm going to the Museum on later in the week, I shall ask the staff for details.

I saw it from a distance today (too busy setting up a layout) it turn out there's no pattern to operation just on a basis of when there is staff spare.

It's not owned by the Lake Railway it's owned by the Slate Mueseum, I doubt it's more likely to be used at events as that is when the museum requires more staff inside its main complex.
