    I think the opening photo sums it all up - when very young I can remember visiting the pool at the height of summer and the water can best be described as 'Baltic' although the same could be said for the water in the now demolished one in Morecambe!

    On the 45th!
    It was always considered as a big day out to go there and it took days of planning. In reality looking at Google Maps it was only 10 miles away from home! Cold? You could add an extra layer to your ice lolly just by dipping it in the water....
    The one at Morecambe also hosted beauty pageants and at least had a bit of shelter from the wind.
