I’m not as big a film goer as the missus, I’ve seen the 1st one, (the one with the 33’s and the 4TC standing in for the TGV ;)) and we saw Ghost Protocol together which was rather enjoyable, I do rather like that Tom Cruise does his own stunts that makes things a bit more believable.
I did show her the photos of this and she mentioned that Steve Coogan might be in this. I rather like the the idea of Alan Partridge showing up in Pringle saving the day :):):):p

Shhh! You're not supposed to mention that. You'll get some people burning their membership cards if they knew.

You got to hand it to them with the quality of the Prop train, especially the smoke effects

Still theres been crazier ideas for films props, think there was a serious film script going round in the early 2000s that would of required them to overhauled a UP big boy to running condition

But that's the film industry, if they where not chucking this engine off a cliff, give it a few easy mods and you got a static Britannia

If they're going to chuck it off the cliff, they've got one "take" with little idea of how it will behave in the way down.

CGI might be cheaper/safer option these days.

I'm surprised that noone has started a crowdfunder to preserve it yet.

Set up a lot of cameras - and maybe a few more for luck! It worked in 1928 for Gainsborough; they used 22 cameras for "The Wrecker".

I think I've read that the "Back to the Future" sacrificial model was 15" gauge and some parts - notably the driving wheels - were salvaged after the filming and used in another loco.

A bit of filming of the Ballast Regulator at work, before and after the Tamper.
John one of the tamper operators has a new toy.
No footage of the tamper working as the operator has not mastered doing 2 things at once.;)

And yes we will be getting the roof paint out.

The NYMR has announced the cancellation of this year’s Railway in Wartime weekend, which was due to be held in October.

Chris Price, General Manager of NYMR said: “After consultation with, and the subsequent support from Pickering Town Council, we are deeply saddened to announce the cancellation of this year’s Railway in Wartime event.”

“This has been an extremely difficult decision to make and one not taken lightly as it will no doubt come as a huge disappointment to local businesses, but with ongoing concerns of complying with unknown COVID-19 guidelines in October, and the challenges it could present with social distancing, the railway and council have agreed that the safety of our volunteers and visitors to the town must remain our number one priority.”

“This three-day event is always a highlight in our calendar each year; however, due to the nationwide lockdowns and delays to our 2021 season-opening, planning an event of this magnitude - which involves months of preparation, and would normally be well advanced by this time of year, not to mention the commitment of significant cost, resources and many volunteers - just hasn’t been possible.”
