Thanks Green Five. Being At Dunbridge to see her come through was awesome! Best part of the day for me.

  2. That was so ill timed. I was on the crossing as I was hoofing it from another spot, but I saw the shadow behind me as Tornado approached.

If it makes you feel better, heres my shot of Tangmere at Dilton Marsh on The Cathedrals last year!

What hasn't yet emerged, until now, is that an underestimation was made of the coal consumption!, besides providing ETH, the 67 was shoving the train about, the loco ran short of coal.

I wondered whether the 67 was doing a bit more work than usual at South Croydon. Perhaps having it on the back all day led to increased coal and water consumption?

    Regards,

    Dan

Maybe, but look at the pics of it leaving on the first trip of the day?, tender not full, and most owners order more top-up coal than anticipated, just in case, case of ''empty Bunker''?

Funnily enough i doubt many people have had usefull experience of an A1 and it's coal and water consumption to give an idea of what to expect, even if they had it would be of limited use given 60163 is modified from the original design, the entire loco and operation of it is a learning curve.

Well then, 'playing at trains' springs to mind, or rather ''learn to walk before you try to run''

Given all the achievements of the A1 trust, the huge public exposure and goodwill, the faultless reliability, and it leads you to say that? ok...

Personally, i'd say the two runs on saturday were a huge success, my congratulations to those involved.

I'd agree with you if the loco was running solo, however the 67 included in the formation meant the risk was minimal., can be certain it won't be happening again at least.

Welcome to the forum Polisher. Just out of interest - what are you best known for polishing? Reckon I could make a guess.

You must have been great company on Saturday, but you were cretainly not among the people I was with who had nothing but praise for everything about the engine, the organisation, the trip - one of the best days I've had with raiwlays for many a year! And you have a moan...
