Yes I realise that but have you seen it? It’s pretty open in reality, I can think of a pub locally that have pods they have installed, much smaller area and only one open side and that seems to be okay. I suppose the difference is possibly each compartment is isolated.[IMG]

That difference of permanence reminds me of the advice of before that seemed to imply you would only catch COVID-19 in a pub after 10pm or if you dared to frequent the place without the protection of a meal.

I realise that when thinking up these rules there has to be a generalisation, but common sense also seems to of gone out the window.

No social distancing between the ends of the seating, irrespective of the compartment style. A very definite fail.

As today is the Saint's final day in operation on the railway before returning to Didcot. Here are my shots of the Saint up Eardington Bank yesterday which also features 7714 and 1501. I hope you enjoy the video.

Unfortunately like so much of the Covid Industry the rules are illogical and inconsistently applied. The seats facing each other in a pod are compliant because they’re in a pod, the seats that are back to back with hefty timber separating them ought to be compliant by any measure of common sense (unless Covid has learnt to burrow through timber or fly around corners). The open air seats are 2m away from the pods. And that’s before we have a debate about the arbitrary 2m social distancing rule and the lack of evidence to justify it...

Can anyone confirm whether 6960 will see use from Kidderminster end on Saturday? Thinking of coming up for it if it is? Thanks

For reference, the website has been updated and it's 1501, 7714 and 43106 in use on Saturday. 1501 and 43106 are doing Sunday to Friday.

The SVR Charitable Trust has launched an appeal to raise funds for the replacement of Bridgnorth shed's roof. In addition to the new roof, new lighting is to be installed to improve the working environment and an overhead crane to improve the heavy lifting capabilities.

Had an email this morning to say the June 18 Wanderer is cancelled. I'd booked on that when it was the Austerity + a Pannier as I thought that would be a fun curiosity on Eardington bank, and then saw it later became 6960's finale, which I was also very much up for. There wasn't an alternative that really worked for my group in the coming weeks so we just went for a (very swiftly processed) refund.

That makes 3 out of 4 recent SVR visit attempts that haven't happened for me (lockdown declared just before the 50033 running day at new year, daughter injured just before the steam gala and now this cancellation) but the one I made it to - the diesel gala - was absolutely superb and I'm sure I'll be back dozens of times in years to come. Is there any indication yet on what's next for 6960 after its ticket expires? Fair to say most of my favourite steam trips at the WSR were with that loco.

The 11th June Class 50's was also cancelled but reinstated after a lot of noise . Perhaps supporters of one last fling with 6960 need to do the same

Hopefully there will a chance of a last ride. I did hear there were possible plans for it to operate the first weekend of 40s weekend, although I hope it gets one last hurrah on a normal weekend before that.

I’m guessing there will be no attempt to gain an extension till the end of the year which is a shame but understandable.

Wow you had some bad luck, sorry to hear that.
I hope we find out before long what the future of 6960 is.

Personally I’d like it to stay but there is the question of overhaul, for example if it was done in house, where would it fit in the overhaul queue? I suppose ideally, overhaul elsewhere but SVR based, but it’s not up to me!!!

However, the one thing that I think is likely is that it will not return to the WSR. It is to heavy for the line these days and I don’t think that it will be for many years yet as evidenced by their chairman’s decision to sign a long term agreement with EVR. He wouldn’t do that if he expected it to be completed in the next couple of years, as at the time of purchase, Minehead was the intended destination. On that basis if the loco has a working future, it is pointless basing it at the WSR, shame though as it put in good service there as you say.

I think Mr H has a facility in Kent looking for items to display, have a feeling it might be heading there.
It’s been rather nice though to see Ratbag back at the SVR though.
