The charters filled in about 48 hours from the existing lists and yahoo groups, and that was 8 days worth. no additional dates are planned to my knowledge

    80072

I see the 80072 group website says the loco will be steaming in June 2009 - what's the confidence level from those in the know that it will make the April event please?

    Re: 80072

I would imagine if a loco owning group were planning on June they won't make April. Would probably be the first time in history that a deadline had not just been broken, but smashed!

    Re: 80072

We have not had a definate "No she wont be there."

However even we can see what work still needs to be done, and time is getting tight. We are planning on giving a final guest list the end of this month, as that is when the loco diagrams are required for going into the brochure which will be getting printed mid-March. There is still hope for 80072 but it is getting smaller as the event draws closer. Sorry I can't give a straight yes/no. Like us you will have to wait just a few more weeks.

Still rather a lot of work to be done on the loco. And when it is all finally back together, it needs to be run in. For a loco that was in a scrap yard for 20ish years, and has been under restoration for the last 18 - 20 years, it won't be a fast process for getting it up and running. Also the amount of money the restoration has cost, then the group want it to be right.

The standard tank is still being worked on I have been informed that there are ten guys booked to work on it tonight

There is a reluctance to put paid staff on the job as the boiler cost far more than expected which I can understand

As for the amount of locomotives attending.......you will just have wait and see

Exactly what the big man said above.

To answer your question RE: numbe of locos. We put 11 in the lefalt plus a 12th mystery guest. Its already been announced 3802 now wont be available due to its axle problems, but we think we have a replacement for her, plus there is still the 'mystery guest'. This will give a total of 12 still if everything comes off.

Fingers crossed it will. The final line-up will be announced shortly. Just until negotiations have been completed we are not willing to make anything public. Just bare with us!

Please remember that the timetable posted on the internet will only be Train Times not Locos/Train Allocation!

To find out what Loco is running what train, you will need to purchase the Souvenir Brochure. This should be published and sent to customers who pre-paid, at least a fortnight before the event.

This method of getting Non-travelling Photographers to contribute to the Gala was proved successful by the NYMR last year.

Can I suggest that that you at least let it be known which locos will be in PASSENGER service on each day?

10 engines let alone 12, will be nice what ever happens.

Being only 23 and not been able go to many events, I rarely seen large numbers of working engines at once (SVR in 1999 had lots but thats the exception). Went to Railfest but not all the engines were in motion. So the Cavercade is going to be something for me let alone the rest of the Gala. Especally as far as I can work out, only 'City of Truro' is an engine which I seen before (Railfest) and thats it (well I seen the 'Dukedog' a few times but that was before it was in working order...). So I now very excited (about same as a Five year old).
