No Kriegsloks running in Wolsztyn at present. I think there's one at Chabówka, or at least one of the many variants of 2-10-0 they have.

Anyway, it's irrelevant, as a lot of Europe is far more restrictive on movements and gatherings at the moment than we are. The Wolsztyn parade for September has been cancelled due to the lack of people allowed to attend, and the lack of steam locos. The Harz have only just started running steam this week. I can't remember the last photo I saw of a German railtour. We're comparatively lucky over here.

Somewhere there is a thead on a UFO board completely ignoring the trains and arguing about the authenticity of the alien...

Assuming they are trying to portray a German train in Germany of course. The last film was set in the 1950’s so this might be set later than that. And Indiana Jones is of course a fiction :)

This film is a work of fiction! The production staff are not sticklers for detailed authenticity - think back to the German aeroplane in "Raiders of the Lost Ark! Plus, the bulk of the filming is carried out in the UK, and in case some of you haven't noticed there's been a lot of problems getting people moved around the world for any reason of late. So, in an effort to press on they've obviously decided that they have to make some compromises!

The "normal" size ones off locos weren't that large. This one was liberated off some sort of tank engine and is on display in the Nickel Plate Rail museum in the USA...

    12-1570a.jpg

The ones on the E19 electrics were a bit larger (Berlin Transport Museum).....

As Tom says what makes a location acceptable is probably far different from what we might think. A prime consideration for one film I know of was lack of overbridges; another one was an industrial built-up background. In terms of the Indians Jones filming, you only have to see how many people and how much equipment was involved to realise the impracticality of taking it abroad. The UK has a thriving film industry with an infrastructure to support it; I’m not sure that can be said of too many other countries.

I hadn’t twigged the doubling up production companies used until I discovered a location near me being used almost simultaneously for different productions. Total guess but maybe the Mission Impossible work was done in tandem with Raiders to reduce costs for both productions?

Great to see Harrison Ford turn up unannounced at North Shields Fish Quay yesterday, in his cycling gear, filming is also taking place at Bamburgh Castle.

Next you'll be claiming there were no mutant super heroes to win battles single handed, when Marvel's and DC's documentaries clearly show them in action. :Bawling:

Are you referring to the Grosmont MPD staff?

No love for Wolfenstein? A clearly realistic console based walk through mutant villain Nazi experiments.

You might be able to convince Chris Barrie (Arnold Rimmer) or Johnny Vegas to pitch that idea as a basis for a TV programme! :)
I'm not about to suggest you're a couple of hundred miles too far north and a hundred and something too far east for that to be right ...... Oops! :Bag:

"Han Solo: Fast ship? You've never heard of the Millennium 9F?
Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi: Should I have?
Han Solo: It's the spaceship that made the Pickering Run in less than twelve parsecs. I've outrun Network Rail starships. Not the local bulk 66s mind you, I'm talking about the big Corellian ships now. She's fast enough for you old man. What's the cargo?"

My point about the Indiana Jones 9F was simply that by swapping the deflectors and a bit of woodwork and paint, it could have been made to look very different
Anyway... back to some form of reality.

My eyes roll every time I hear that line; a parsec is a unit of distance, not time!

Liked the adaption to rail overall, though! :)

    Morning All,

If anyone would like to have a look, I've put a further instalment of my 1992 NYMR video footage on YouTube; it covers a journey from Pickering to Newtondale Halt behind WD 2-10-0 N. 601. It was filmed from the first carriage right behind the engine, so turn the sound up!

    Hope you like it.

    TTFN,

    Ron.

I see the J27 is listed on the scheduled locos for today on the NYMR web site, saw her on the Grosmont webcam yesterday possibly a running in turn up the bank.
