Yes it is 76298 that appears as a "slip coach". There is another non driving coach behind it by I have no idea which as there appears to be no number any longer visible

 

Would that be the faded maroon 70855 TFK, which will eventually become the 4th coach of the 4TC.

Maybe during the summer the blue/grey 3TC will be ready take a test run with a 33?

 

Notice on the webcam more DMU testing/training in the rain and the blue/grey 4TC centre coach that was outside the goods shed has moved, maybe to join with the other 4TC coaches? (unless someone has repainted it crimson and cream)?

It seems 31806's exploits went well at the weekend. Which has reminded me. Is there any news on the N? Has what ever boiler will end up on it at least been inspected yet?

 

Some good pictures and video of the first mainline trip for 3 years on here in the steamdreams thread and SR unofficial facebook page. Hopefully will not be long before 31806 goes on another mainline trip to earn some money?, even if it is a special to Wareham and back with a 33 for crew training (rather than use a 3rd party WCR crew)?.
The Swanage Mogul fund website and facebook pages have not been updated for a long while. Presumably 31806's old boiler has been sent away for checking and recertification to be fitted to the N class 31874 at some point (depending on funds)?

 

I don’t think any boilers have been sent anywhere yet. Don’t forget there is also a boiler on 31625 which could potentially be used. In fact at one point 31625’s boiler nearly got lifted for overhaul and use on 31806. Then covid happened and the plan changed to using 31874’s boiler.

Following on from the success of 31806's return to the mainline yesterday, may I turn attention briefly to one of the railway's internal projects.

I wonder if they will ever run any trains with jams on at any point in the future. It’s not a idea that lots like but 31806 was a good engine for it in the pictures.

Eddystone is so popular they are even coming by helicopter to see it run!

No seriously I have been trying to get a shot with the Air Ambulance (that regularly lands in this field) with a train in the background for a while but the timings never seem to align. This landed 15 minutes before the 15:30 departure yesterday, not of course the Air Ambulance but apparently for HRH Princess Anne who was at an event at Durlston Country Park. Not sure why it did not land there as it is of course fields.
I guess this is better to get back home than an open top 50 to Bournemouth (she is old enough for a bus pass) and a late running SWR 444.

Right someone was saying on a discord group chat that the N would be back in 2022 but that's clearly b#ll#cks if Mogul said it going to be 18 months to overhaul the boiler and so far nothing has been done...

 

The Swanage Railway (in non covid times) do run some excellent cream tea specials!

 

Princess Anne was here to celebrate 21 years of NCI at Peveril Point. The helicopter landed on the Downs, and after visiting the lookout, Princess Anne transferred to Durlston Castle for a 21st birthday party by car. Rather than wait on an exposed location the helicopter transferred to King Georges, and the car returned from DC.

 

The idea of a cream tea puts me off, I don't like cream. However jam scones are very nice if you don't put cream on to spoil them.

 

I'm sure they'll run a special cream-free train service just for you.

 

All comes in separate pots, so no need to add the cream to the scone if you don’t want it!

Are there any plans to restart dining trains at Swanage in the near future? Some other lines are starting to re introduce them.
