They have been thrown out and had to take all the things they own to.

I think John was referring to Nick's comment about charities.

Do you mean there could be some sort of connection between those who are reluctant to donate their hard earned cash towards those responsible for removing the so called ‘cuckoo in the nest’ and they now find themselves up a certain creek without a paddle?

Slightly delayed this week due to work commitments but this weeks small update from Washford is now available on the trusts website. My thanks to the team on the ground who captured the pictures. https://www.sdrt.org/the-washford-shunt/

Hi @Maverick. Could you let Chris know Alresford is spelt ALR not ARL as it is misspelt throughout the blog with the exception of when quoting Izzy. :)
It may help to think of the pronunciation as far closer to "Allsford".
It's great to see how well everything is coming on, I remember some of the wagons from my fairly frequent visits to Washford in the past.

Thanks duly noted and updated. I was even paranoid as I wrote it this week. It appears the in built spell check in the web editor updated it. I have resolved for future posts. Chris

:) You see it misspelt quite a lot. Weird that the spell wrecker changes it to ARL as when I stick Arlesford into google maps, it searches for Alresford, and the only place I can find with the arl spelling is a backstreet in Clapham. Still, there is no accounting for computers eh ;)

Never mind why ... I toggle between English, Spanish and Welsh keyboards on my android. What that does to the spellchecker's suggestions has to be seen to be believed! :Banghead:

if you are referring to the avon valley railway, i think you'll probably find the 813 fund wagon issue is nothing to do with the likely arrival of the s&drt wagons. i would suggest that your expectations of the ability of avrht to make such joined up decisions is far beyond their actual capabilities.

Just out of interest @Andy Norman what’s the deal with the Chilcompton sign?
Why’s that one chocolate and cream?
Apologies if I’m asking a silly question.

That is one of the options available of course. However as has been previously reported nothing has been agreed yet, so nothing is on or off the table. The S&DRT and PLC Negotiators are still in conversations so I can’t comment further, sorry there isn't more details to give.

For the record I’m not directly involved with those conversations as the job I was asked to do is both to ensure good governance and to look forward and help plan the future whatever that may bring. Therefore as already announced to the Members at the AGM we will be beginning shortly our Strategic Review so the Members can give their Board direction as to the future of the S&DRT, including what they want it to be and how they want it to develop. We will be in touch with Members in the coming months for their views and opinions.

This future of course includes our Strategic Partners and I’m looking forward to going to MHR again next week to help with delivering some museum items and getting to know them better.

Therefore if anybody would like to have to say or get involved directly please join now, the more help the better: https://www.sdrt.org/product-category/membership/

Not a silly question at all and I have to say I don't know the answer. I'll ask a man who will and come back to you, or Chris may see this post and know/can find out and answer as well.

It’s from when the line came under western region control, they did the same locally to me. After they had taken over, when a sign was repainted it would be in WR colours. All the totems on the stretch of the Birmingham to Bristol main line around the Ashchurch area were repainted for example including Ashchurch itself, Bredon, Eckington & Defford. Not so widespread on the S&D but that is the reason.

Indeed. Many of the signs on the S&D lines north and west of Evercreech Jcn were so repainted after the BR(WR) take-over.
I'm not sure to what extent, if at all, this happened to places further south as the WR control extended eventually to include as far as Shillingstone. Perhaps by the 1960s they were not bothering to 'waste' paint on the line any more......

At Ashchurch, the totems were repainted but a lot of the other signs were not, so not a total rebrand, possibly as you say because as the 60s progressed they saw no point.
