This taken from the above link is fascinating! You can see where the tender has been stripped back/primed/repainted a number of times including when it was apple green (for use behind Flying Scotsman). One of the earliest layers clearly shows garter blue paint as well.

O/T but I had a photo of something similar of D821 Greyhound from 1998, with every livery it had carried up to that point, even the yellow primer that Swindon had applied during its construction. It certainly makes you think.

Fingers crossed this engine runs again soon. Good to see the dedication of the team at York despite these hard times.

What's the story with the numbers on the cab window catch? Does the 34059 refer to Sir Archibald, or is it something else, a part code from LNER/BR days or similar? Likewise the V2 - it doesn't seem that implausible though that a V2 part would end up on an A4, either pre or post preservation.

If people are Ok with this, i will post FB pics and posts, as the race to completion continues.

The valve gear has been disassembled to allow the piston valves to be removed. The left piston valve was removed and rings fitted and then the valve was refitted for the last time. The right will be done next followed by the middle and finally the valve gear will be reassembled.

    Taken from FB this morning

Work continues at a pace for the return to traffic, highly visable progress is the reassembly of the cylinders and more cladding around the boiler whilst inside the smokebox welding work was underway on the steam pipes.

Not my comment: but on 60007 SNG facebook group someone has been very optimistic saying 60007 will be completed by end of August. Has the main steam pipe to one of the cylinders inside the boiler been plumbed up yet and also the cladding and brakes still need completing I believe reading the last update. Very unlikely a on shed N.R.M. steam test will take place in september let alone a loaded test run unless it's a speedy completion.

The mantra has always been, its finished when it is done, and it looks like a very thorough job.
If it is October ? November, thats fine by me.

Latest issue of Chime (201) has just landed. Spring 2022 is now the target date for return to traffic. No doubt the website will be updated shortly with further details.

Reading the Chairman's notes it seems the NRM now need the area 60007 is in for re-development, and although everything seemed on track, prior to covid, the extension in time required, means the loco etc.., will move to Crewe for final completion, painting, and test steaming.

After watching so long, was looking forward to a trip to York, to see her first moves, and re-dedication.

However, something else gone, look forward to her getting to the NYMR at some stage.
