The steam roller still exists, it was borrowed from Barnes Brothers of Southwick (near trowbridge) It lives Swindon way and is in ticket.

I think it's in wartime black, pretty weather-beaten though! The patches are the final touch of class.

Also, a lot of the 'staff' are still in company uniform, save for the BR headwear.

"The town museum from where the "Titfield Thunderbolt" was liberated from was filmed in the old Imperial College building (now demolished) opposite the Royal Albert Hall in South West London. All these shots were made using a studio built model. There is some apocryphal evidence that this model was held back after the conclusion of filming and passed into BBC ownership when they brought the studios two years later in 1955. It has been suggested that it was used as an occasional 'prop' for drama productions (any suggestions as to actual productions?) and was subsequently destroyed in one of the BEEBs famous 'good housekeeping campaigns' the early 1970's."

1450 didn't break because she hit the crossing at Lydney Town, that was in the summer of 07 and she went out of service in July last year. Since the Lydney Town accident the DFR have done a lot to improve the area coming up to the crossing - further advanced warnings for the crossing keepers, lineside clearances and other safety measures. Mike Little, who owns 1450 is a member of the DFR as well (as far as I know anway).

If i remember right the Auto end was leading at that incident so the locomotive would of sustained no damage.

The latest issue of Steam Railway now says she is going back to the DFR and in various issues of the the 'dfr magazine' it repeats this.

Does anyone know when she will sent back to Norchard for traffic?

How long does she have on her ticket, before overhaul? It'd be great to see her out and about, visiting other lines.

I know 1466 is way down the queue at Didcot, but what status is 1420 at Buckfastliegh?

1420 is stripped down at Buckfastleigh pending overhaul. Assessments have been made on the boiler and firebox (which can be seen out the back of the main works - the frames are in the rear of the main running shed). 3205 is next to be completed, then it believe it is either 1420 or 6412 to go in.

When 1450 returns to service she will be starting a new 10 year ticket, says dfr magazine.

    From dfr magazine issue 6 (May/June 2009) -

    'More to do on 1450'

The hoped for return of Mike Little's 14xx tank, 1450, to the Dean Forest Railway, has been put on hold after it was discovered that more work was need.
Work has been going on at the LNWR works at Crewe so that the loco could return with a new 10-year ticket, but unfortunately an ultrasonic scan threw up problems with the firebox and 1450 is unlikely to be back until the autumn.
Mike said: "It is unfortunate as the boiler is OK and the work on the smokebox is complete and the bottom half of the engine is fine.
"I did suggest to the LNWR that it would be nice if the work was finished in October for a private charter on the DFR. However, they would not be drawn on a date."

I would think she will only run at the DFR this year if she returns before 2010 but I do not know.

I'd imagine if she turns a wheel before 2010 it will only be at the DFR where she is based.
