Well technically it's £50 per trip as they aren't yet selling single tickets. Hopefully another month or so and they'll be able to!

Noticed the Shakespeare Express is now just the 5 August Sundays.

Yes they scaled it back after the roadmap delay to just the 5 Sundays. However, they did say they would consider some more in September depending on how things pan out.

Despite not planning to run any trains until after the 19th anyway? Possibly some on the 17th, but all are bubble bookings anyway.

Great Western steam returns to the mainline next week!

    Tuesday - 27th July

Training runs commence next Tuesday with two daytime return trips from Tyseley to Stratford along the North Warwicks line.

    https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...21-07-27/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

    Thursday - 29th July

Loaded runs for shareholders and invited guests join us on an afternoon press run from Moor Street to Stratford and return via the North Warwicks with an evening run also taking place clockwise around the Leicester circuit.

    https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...21-07-29/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

    Shakespeare’s - August Sundays

The best value for mainline steam commences 1st August repeating every Sunday in August.

    Jolly Fisherman - 4th August

The first excursion runs from Tyseley to Skegness with a pair of 20’s

    https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...21-08-04/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

With the exception of the 20’s mentioned, 7029 is expected to take the reigns although both 5043 and 9466 are set to make an imminent return to the mainline.

Sadly still no proposed/outline times for the tours on the website, despite being promised (via VT on Facebook) that these would be coming soon.

Looks like folk travelling on them will have to tag team up together and wait for the timings on there tickets when R.T.T. are flashed up by N.R. or have to stay overnight in Birmingham.

Yes the lack of rough times is annoying. How do I know if I need to book a parking space if I don't know whether I'll be driving there or going by service train? The approximate timings help me make that decision.
I am booked on a couple of their tours. I bought 2 tickets for each despite the fact it will only be me going. Once they start selling single traveller tickets then I'll book on the others.

It will be interesting to see whether the run on 29th July takes place with steam as the test run today was 47 773 with Clun dead at Tyseley. 5043's boiler is not yet in the frames.
The support crew with 47773 would not say what the problem was with Clun and as a passenger I have not been notified as yet whether it will be Clun or 47773.

Timings for the 20's trip to Skegness next week.

Considering this is targeting the family market with specially priced family tickets, it's a very long day. Arrival back into Tyseley at 23:34. With no estimated timings available on their website when people booked, anyone planning to get a service train back may struggle at that time in the evening.

Probably could have benefited from just 4 hours in Skegness instead of 6.

Thursdays workings are class 47 hauled .

7029 had passed cold FTR but unexpected issues with superheater elements sadly seem to the issue

Looks like it is expected to not take more than a month -
    From their e-mail
We know everyone will wish Clun Castle well. We also know everyone will understand that we are unable to enter into correspondence or accept telephone or other enquiries on her condition. We will make a further announcement when we have more news.
Our website will set out details of the haulage arrangements for August tours and booked passengers have already been notified of alternative traction. We do not anticipate any changes to Clun Castle’s booked tours from September onwards.

I am booked on Sunday's trip but have had no information other than an email today with timings so I'm slightly bemused by the reference to "booked passengers have already been notified of alternative traction." Has anyone any thoughts?

They have given passengers on the train on 29th July the option of cancelling so presumably will do the same for the Shakespeares if they can't provide Steam traction.

I do hope so. I still think it strange I received an email from them with timings and not to stick my head out of the window and nothing else. I would happily switch to any other date. Looks like one of those awkward time consuming telephone calls in the morning; if I can get through. I’ve been trying to get hold of the A1 group now for 3 days.
