Agreed. The line of the track from the quarry leads eyes beautifully to the train. Top notch.

I dug out my old tripod that had been languishing at the back of a cupboard for 30-0dd years, a bit of WD40 and a rub down with a damp cloth and it was as good as new - shame that doesn't work for arthritic knees. I had hoped to set up on the north end of the platform at Horton in Ribblesdale but as I was late arriving I had to settle for the south end. Forget the pictures and enjoy the sound as Messrs Blair and Soames give it a good bash and shower Oswald with cinders in the process.

As one of the diners on the train I have to say it felt as though 46115 was as "free as the wind" with the crew determined to show what a Royal Scot in good nick can do. Whilst disappointed that the allocated Jubilee was not used - due to increased load according to some - the Royal Scot did itself justice as far as on-board observation could determine. A fast run on the WCML finished a good day and WCRC can be proud of what they have achieved in restoring, maintaining and operating this venerable machine.

Good to meet you and have a chat Fred, just think what sort of time could have been achieved had a clear run Carlisle to Carnforth been available. :)

Agreed - it's nice to put faces to names and - more importantly - understand the vernacular to interpret postings given the offence that some posters take to comments made in good faith.

All I'll say is, 13 unaided will be a first over the S&C in preservation for a 5X.

Back in steam days the 10.17 Leeds - Carlisle used to have 11 on which I was told was the limit for Jubilee. On the LMR XL timings the limit was =9.
Unaided over Wilpshire must be risking it a bit.

Never mind that, the 55A shedplate is just not authentic.
