Great result, and a testament to the L&B's forward planning and long-term vision.

Interestingly the link to the Lynton & Barnstaple railway web page on the National Preservation Trust web site does not work.

Which web site would that be? Googling National Preservation Trust finds me an organisation in Australia.

I assume you refer to the link on the Natpres links page for all/most Heritage Railways. If so, none of those links work.

They don't work because most (all?) link to my former website on the University of East London servers. Those links have not been valid for many years.
That website is now at http://www.heritage-railways.com so try the links on there instead. :)

i talked to the lads on the last inspection some 6 years ago and back then they said that it was in better condition that many mainline viaducts, the pointing on the capping bricks however is starting to breakdown a bit so will need some attention soon to redress the issue

Thanks for the update Chris. It is also good to read how the L & B is working with the local landowners in such a mutually beneficial way.

My first visit today. It's a bit of a mission (320 mile round trip) but very enjoyable. Train was 'Axe' with 3 on.
How many times do you get so see a ticket number like this one? Give it 50 years and it may be collectible!:)

It's lovely to even get a proper card ticket in 2021!
With online pre-booking none of the railways I've visited this year have given physical tickets at all.
Even pre pandemic many have gone to ordinary paper receipts instead of proper card tickets.
I really appreciate having a proper ticket and am always disappointed when railways aren't using them.
I quite understand the logistical challenges, but it's a shame all the same.

When I attended the Bluebell's 60+1 event, and showed my e-ticket I was given an Edmondson ticket which have e-ticket exchange on it.

I have a couple from last week too. Visited twice firstly last Tuesday with Lyn - it was jam packed, the busiest I’ve ever seen it, every train was full leaving Woody Bay.

Returned on Saturday and rode behind Axe, which had been pressed into service following Lyns failure at the end of Friday. The trip down to Killington Lane was uneventful but, on the return Axe ran out of steam at the bottom of the bank. After a pause for a blow up, we managed to get moving again, with some slipping and you could see Axe was working hard, much to the delight of my two young children who were cheering Axe on. It wasn’t quite as busy on the second visit, but chatting with some of the volunteers, I was pleased to hear they have been breaking all records this year for visitor numbers. It’s not a big railway (yet), but is well run with friendly people behind it which is why we always visit once or twice when in the area and it’s great to see them doing so well.

Downsizing my library and I'd like to offer some back numbers of the L&B magazine to anyone wanting them.
The numbers are 82-124 inclusive in 5 official L&B green binders. I'm looking to pass these on as a single lot rather than splitting into volumes or individual numbers.
The magazines are free other than postage from Ireland. This will be about €25.00 to GB.

    If interested, let me know.

I also have two recent first class supplement tickets with wrong spelling of Barnstaple. Are these going to be valuable collectors' items?

I guess it’s a mistake either of the commissioner ie the wording they asked for, or the printer. (I assume the L&B don’t have their own Edmondson printing press). Probably stuck now until the batch runs out!
