got my tickets to-day the letter apolorgising for the early start was interesting network rail says there is pathing problems between drem and edinburgh as tornado's max is 75 mph and the express trains run up to 125 (so thers a good case for upping tornado's max ) also platform congestion at waverly

Passed through York this afternoon and Tornado was lit up and in light steam alongside Gresley outside the NRM. Hope to see it tomorrow either at Waverley or on its way to Thornton later in the day.

Best thing to do at Waverly is to stand at the southern end after it comes in because its scheduled to go back to Millerhill, the 67 is down to couple up to the rear 20mins after arrival and take the lot out.......

We're on it but don't know if we'll be instantly barred Geoff,so is it even worth bothering, especially if we have our orders from Pugwash Tom :D

    Cheers,
    Mark

Tornado looked really good on time through Durham (picture to follow) - it seemed to have an unusual headboard, which is partly obscured by the pipework on my photo - anyone know what it was?

Tornado is carrying a plaque as a tribute to Wreford Voge who was a trustee of The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust from the outset until his death just before Christmas 2008; Wreford lived in Edinburgh.

I was under the impression line speed dropped a bit to the north of Berwick, maybe it's lack of paths on that stretch as opposed to outright speed ?.

Passed through Dalgety Bay on its way to Thornton about half an hour early. Presumably must have missed out the paving stop at Dalmeny.

I'd just like to thank all involved in yesterday's tour for their efforts in setting up a wonderful day out. =D> =D>

Credit must go to Network Rail at Waverley for initially closing off the platform, partly, I suspect, for safety reasons, but it meant that we passengers could take a reasonably unhindered look at Tornado as well. It was all very well controlled.

I was struck by the numbers of people who had turned out to see Tornado, all the way fom York to Edinburgh. Talk about a feel-good factor. =D>

Only one or two people spotted, on my side of the train at least, in 'inappropriate locations' whilst taking their photographs [-X .

What a pity that the return was delayed initially by technical problems with the 67, but we were back on schedule by the time we reached Newcastle, I think.

I'd like to add my sympathy to the driver of the train involved in the one under, & also the victim's family. A sad end to a memorable day out.

    Thanks again all \:D/

A shot of Tornado on the clifftops north of Berwick yesterday. I got rather carried away, de-electrified the ECML, and gave Tornado a uniform rake of blood and custards, so look away if such things offend you:

Looking forward to seeing much more of the A1 over the coming years.

Excellent purely as an image, so long as you own up to the changes is the main thing i reckon.

Wouldn't it be nice if the rolling stock owners had a set of paint brushes the same colour too!

I know Paintshop Pro or similar costs less - but it would be a nice gesture - remember the full rake of maroons on Great Briton "One"

I dont see how that could offend anyone - its absolutely superb. Very cleverly done - unless of course your name is 'The Doctor' and you have a time machine.

    Well done that man ! =D> =D> =D>

I don't think there could be any more eloquent proof of why digital is such a super medium when you look at Mr Croziers pictures - coaches of many colours beneath an unsightly wire ceiling.

Roll back the years in Paintshop Pro or Photoshop - and see what we have lost!

Its just a shame the A1 couldn't be taken to Aberdeen!

What a sight that would be!
