8f in the moors, very exciting!

Wonder what else is considered legendary, 35006 would be a great shout, or might 60007 be back in traffic?

2999 was advertised originally for last years gala... So that would fit the description, and similar use of phrasing before the SVR announced its visiting for their Spring Steam Up

2999 has such a wonderful bark. It would sound amazing at the NYMR. Despite the distance, I would be there. <BJ>

Didcot have the NYMR's Lambton 29 on hire for the summer so there could well be a mutually beneficial arrangement.

I am told that 2999 will be undergoing repairs in September, the GWS want to do work on the valves in particular.
It wont be at the gala this year.

I hope they run Repton and the S15 double headed again. I think that's a great idea...

Looking forward to seeing the 8F too. Pity it can't stay!

Would be nice to see them together, as I didn't make it to the last gala.

Although the last gala I attended I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the J27 & Q6 double heading, be nice to see that repeated or even 29 & the J27. Which could be reminiscent of the early days of the NYMR.

Does anyone know if they are limiting the number of tickets sold for each day? I've got my accommodation sorted just wondering if I should buy my ticket in advance.

I just purchased my ticket for the Friday. Never before have I hesitated over buying a ticket for an event I had been planning to go to but £44? That must have put some people off. I get that we're lucky to be having a gala at all but that's approaching ridiculous.

For me we should be lucky that prices are as cheap as they are for premier events. Try going to the biggest concerts, theatre shows, football games, a photo charter or a main line rail tour for that price, many of which are offering a much shorter experience.

£30-£45 seem to be the new norm for gala events. I think it's very fair depending what's happened and what's on offer.

Hmm, that has a few odd gaps in it on both Thurs and Sunday. Perhaps on Thursday & Sunday the gap is for The Moorlander lunch train and is going to be the Pullman's only with no non-diners on the back 3 Mk1s?

For the Thursday I would imagine so, think they don't want to overload that service so not advertising it. Although note the below taken from the dining section of the website.

" Moorlander services running on 24, 25 & 26 September, during the Annual Steam Gala, will depart at the following adjusted times:

    • 24 September - 19:15 (Evening service)
    • 25 September - 19:15 (Evening service)
    • 26 September - 13:50 (20 minutes later than usual)"

Is there a particular reason why the NYMR doesn't post timetables with locos online prior to its events? I'm travelling up from Wales on the Friday morning to spend a day on trains and it would be nice to know what to expect on the first service out of Grosmont.
