35018 certainly bowled through Ulleskelf when I did it on 8 August. I thought it was a very competent run south from Carlisle that day - it may not have been one for the record books, but locomotive and crew were certainly getting on with the job with no fuss. Almost tempted to do 5 September's run!

Sounding very well up Micklefield Bank, just a few people out to see it which is rare and much welcomed.

Everybody else probably realised the exhaust was going to blow over the train...

I was to the right of you, it wasn't to bad lower down, it was worst at Barkston Ash. That shot of the bridge has gone, in summer months anyway.

Exhaust trail hanging in the warm but slightly wet weather. Touch up will be needed to the smokebox door - paint actually peeling away.

That smokebox door paint thing is something I noticed when we went on the Fife Circular back in June as a birthday present. In some shots where the light was right it was really visible, but in others, presumably where the bare metal was showing a reflection of
frames, blinkers etc, it wasn't noticeable at all. In fact I thought they'd been doing some quick touch-ups at Joppa between runs until I looked more closely. 60103-(20)-Morning-arrival-from-Joppa-fbook.jpg 60103-(44)-Afternoon-Trip-Approaching-from-Joppa-2048.jpg 60103-(59)-fbook.jpg

LNER A3 class No. 60103 'Flying Scotsman' works the northbound 'Waverley' away from Helwith Bridge with Mick Rawling driving, rostered fireman Andy
    Simkin on the shovel.

No. 60103 'Flying Scotsman' makes a fine sight and sound as it works away from Kirkby Stephen with the return 'Waverley' rail tour back to York with Chris
Cubitt driving and rostered fireman Fraser Birrell on the shovel
